Freeholders approved a $318,231 increase in the ceiling amount for additional work by Remington and Vernick Engineers, Inc. for construction engineering services to replace seven spans on the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge.
Cape May County Freeholder Director Gerald M. Thornton issued the following statement regarding videos that surfaced online showing the reopening of the Townsend’s Inlet Bridge, July 25.
Since the county's previous construction update issued in mid-April, the county and Cape May County Bridge Commission advise that work on the Townsend's Inlet Bridge project has progressed better than projected and more favorable weather conditions have aided in the accomplishment of a number of critical work activities.
The Cape May County Engineer's Office issued a release April 8 stating that the Townsend's Inlet Bridge would likely not reopen until late summer.
