At a point when some county municipalities have not yet introduced their 2021 budget, Avalon Borough Council adopted a $32.8 million budget for 2021.

Interim City Manager Michael Voll Feb. 16 presented his budget to Cape May City Council. Under Cape May’s form of government, the city manager is required to submit a budget to the governing body.  

The Senior Freeze and Homestead Benefit property tax relief programs survived the budget process for the shortened nine-month budget year that began Oct. 1.

Two years ago, at the Oct. 16 Stone Harbor Borough Council meeting, plans were discussed for a new beach patrol building, at 95th Street and the beach. 

The Chamber of Commerce of Greater Cape May held a candidate forum Sept. 28, in Congress Hall’s main ballroom.

With the signing of the Fiscal Year 2021 Appropriations Act, the Murphy administration extended a critical lifeline to an additional 60,000 New Jersey residents by expanding the minimum age of eligibility for the New Jersey Earned Income Tax Credit (NJEITC) from 25 years of age to 21.

According to a release, the rate will increase from the current 8.97% to 10.75% for every dollar earned between $1 million and $5 million annually.
