Cape May Court House - Freeholder Director Gerald Thornton and Freeholder Kristine Gabor want to make Cape May County residents aware of the impending deadline for county residents whose homes were insured by the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP). Homeowners who have not appealed or filed additional forms and proof of damage by late April 2014 will lose the right to challenge their NFIP settlement.

A webinar hosted by United Policyholders, a non profit insurance consumer organization, will be held on Wednesday, March 26th at 12:30 ET. Residents without a computer are encouraged to attend a classroom setting where the webinar will be available. Please arrive before 12:30.

The three locations are:

• County Administration Building, Intermediate Meeting Room, 4 Moore Road, Cape May Court House.

• Wildwood Crest Library- 6301 Ocean Avenue, Wildwood Crest.

• Lower Cape Library- 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas.

Those interested in attending the classroom setting are asked to call 609.465.1056 to register by March 25th and leave their question which will be forwarded to the web address.

The webinar will walk homeowners and organizations through the NFIP claim and appeal rules and best practices for documenting losses and filing proof of loss claims. The webinar instructors will share technical, legal and consumer-oriented expertise aimed at getting more money into the hands of people struggling to repair and rebuild from Super Storm Sandy.
