To the Editor:
Cape May County has provided public transportation since 1976. Since then, bus routes have not changed.
Public transportation is not improving, but decaying. An example is the two bus shelters that rest in North Wildwood and Rio Grande. The train tracks are not being used either.
This is hurting citizens by creating a non-accessible method of traveling. Many of these roads do not have bus routes.
Atlantic Cape Community College is looking into a shuttle bus because New Jersey Transit can't make updated improvements. The shuttle bus would cost more money. The second solution is to have a public passenger train system from Cape May to Philadelphia.
New Jersey Transit receives funding every year for transportation improvement. The money is available. The problem is that the issue is not being focused and addressed. Therefore, New Jersey Transit needs to get on board by helping the county operate more efficiently.
