By Press Release

COURT HOUSE — New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) officials announced that Route 47/ S. Delsea Drive will be reopened April 22, two months earlier than expected, following the completion of priority roadway repairs in Court House.
Beginning at 7 a.m. April 22, NJDOT’s contractor Mount Construction is scheduled to begin removing construction barriers to reopen Route 47 in both directions between Indian Trail Road and Springers Mill Road following the completion of priority repairs to replace the culvert and reconstruct Route 47 over Dias Creek.
Route 47 has been closed since mid-January because the culvert was damaged and had been causing sinkholes that compromised the roadway.
The project was expected to take until June to complete. The project included completely digging out the road to remove the damaged culvert pipes and constructing a temporary bypass to allow unimpeded water flow and wildlife movement to comply with environmental regulations while the construction was taking place.
The project included the installation of two new 60-inch diameter culvert pipes, as well as reconstructing and repaving this portion of Route 47. By using the existing culvert headwalls, all of this work was able to be completed two months ahead of schedule allowing the road to reopen now.
Variable Message Signs will provide advance notification to motorists of traffic pattern changes associated with the work. The precise timing of the work is subject to change due to weather or other factors.
