WEST WILDWOOD - Two West Wildwood residents, who ran for the Borough Commission seat vacated by Cornelius Maxwell, said that their cars were vandalized during the election.
John Banning, during the Jan. 8 commission meeting, said his tires were flattened and his gas tank was tampered with. Nancy Doherty said her car was the victim of similar acts.
“I’m used to it,” Doherty said. “Somebody’s messing with it all the time ... run a key or something on the paint.”
Audible gasps came from the crowd.
The vacant seat was won by Amy Korobellis, who said her car was not vandalized. Maxwell resigned from his position earlier in 2019, citing personal and family reasons.
Mayor Christopher Fox said he does not condone the vandal’s actions, and called them “sad.”
