Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage to Mark National Adoption Day

COURT HOUSE - The Atlantic/Cape May Vicinage will hold National Adoption Day celebrations Nov. 21 in Atlantic County and Nov. 22 in Cape May County. 

According to a release, the vicinage will finalize the adoptions of 30 children.

Atlantic County

The Atlantic County adoption proceedings and celebration will begin at 9 a.m. in the jury assembly room on the first floor of the Atlantic County Civil Courts Building, 1201 Bacharach Blvd., Atlantic City.

The proceedings will be conducted by Assignment Judge Julio L. Mendez, and Superior Court Judge M. Susan Sheppard, W. Todd Miller and Pamela D’Arcy. Gifts will be presented to the children.

Cape May County

In Cape May County, adoptions will begin at 9 a.m. at the Cape May County Courthouse, 9 N. Main St., Court House. Judge Sheppard will conduct the adoptions and gifts will be presented to the children.

The events will be co-hosted by the vicinage’s family division and the New Jersey Division of Child Protection & Permanency, in collaboration with the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Atlantic and Cape May Counties and Surrogates Dean R. Marcolongo of Cape May County and James Curcio of Atlantic County.

The proceedings will add to the 104 adoptions already completed in the vicinage this year, including 48 in Cape May County and 56 in Atlantic County. Information on the adoption process will be available for the public at the events. For information, visit nationaladoptionday.org.

National Adoption Day is an annual event in which courts and communities in all 50 states join to finalize thousands of adoptions and to celebrate families who adopt.
