SEA ISLE CITY – A resident requested that the city council takes action to show its support for the Second Amendment and the municipality being designated as a lawful gun owner sanctuary.

Gun sanctuary is a term that refers to governing municipalities that have adopted laws or resolutions to prohibit or impede the enforcement of certain gun control measures perceived as violating the Second Amendment.

Councilmembers recognized that other municipalities in Cape May County, including Lower, Middle, and Upper townships, have recently taken action to show support for being a Second Amendment Sanctuary. The local governing body feels as they don't have to do so. Several council members indicated that when they were sworn that have already taken an oath to support the Constitution, including the Second Amendment.
