OCEAN CITY — At approximately 11:55 a.m. Tues., May 3, a small aircraft, 1980 Cessna A185F, veered off the runway and crashed at the Ocean City Municipal Airport.
The plane was occupied by the pilot, Victor Plumbo, of Ocean City.
There were no injuries reported. Initial investigation and statements indicate the pilot believed that a crosswind caused him to be pushed off the runway while accelerating during take off.
The plane received extensive damage to the wings, landing gear and propellers.
The follow up investigation is being conducted by the FAA and the Ocean City Airport was closed immediately after the crash and will reopen at the discretion of the FAA.
