PETERSBURG - Upper Township Business Administrator Scott Morgan briefed the Upper Township Committee on New Jersey State Police in the municipality June 10.
"We had a few comments from residents in Strathmere that they would like to see more troopers interacting with the community rather than just driving through, especially in the summer,” Morgan said.
There were also requests for the State Police to improve their response time.
"I approached Woodbine Barracks commander, Bill Henry, who is very supportive of the idea,” Morgan said.
Henry would increase State Police presence on weekends in Strathmere until the end of August, according to Morgan.
"Inland in Upper, we've been having more troopers patrol throughout the township for the last three months. I also am happy to note that there will be no additional cost to Upper for any overtime as these expenses will be borne by the State Police," Morgan continued.
