COURT HOUSE - During the Middle Township Committee meeting in Rio Grande Sept. 16, Mayor Timothy Donohue was asked about the status of the mixed residential project Delco Development has proposed for the site of the former concrete plant off Railroad Avenue.
The complex, which would be a neighbor to the Rio Grande Plaza Shopping Center, would contain market-rate rental apartments and a townhome community of 77 units, which would be sold.
The township designated the area as one in need of redevelopment. This designation allows the municipality to offer incentives for a developer, which may include zoning flexibility and tax abatements.
Donohue said the municipality was in negotiations with Delco. “They have made a proposal to develop the property. It is now a negotiation over possible incentives.”
