SEA ISLE CITY - Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey H. Sutherland and Sea Isle City Police Chief Thomas McQuillen reported that the body of an 89-year-old woman was found in her apartment after the Nov. 29 multi-alarm fire that occurred at 29 54th Street.

According to a release, fire suppression efforts have been completed and the fire has been extinguished.

Detectives from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, Sea Isle City Police Department, Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and members of the Cape May County and state Fire Marshal’s offices are now investigating the cause and origin of the fire which has not yet been determined.

Sutherland stated two individuals were injured as a result of the fire and a third resident died. Elizabeth Coleman, 56, and Roy Lombardo, 60, both residents of 29 54th Street, were transported to Cape Regional Medical Center to be treated for their injuries.

Lombardo has since been released but Coleman was transferred to Cooper Medical Center where she is still being treated.

The body of Marie Zielinski, 89, was found in her apartment. Zielinski was positively identified by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner's Office who will be conducting an autopsy.

Sutherland said that this is an ongoing investigation and urged anyone who has any information or video/camera footage regarding the fire to contact the Prosecutor’s Office at 609-465-1135, or the Sea Isle City Police Department at 609-263-4311, or report it anonymously through the Cape May County Sheriff’s Tip Line at and click on anonymous tip.
