Middle Twp Police Ask for Help Locating Suspect Charged with Attempted Murder

Daquann Smith is sought by Middle Township Police Department in connection with a Dec. 18, 2019 attempted murder.

EDGEWOOD - The Middle Township Police Department responded to Bayview Road, in Edgewood, Dec. 18, 2019, for the report of gunshots in the area. 

According to a release, patrol units arrived, and the 20-year-old male victim was found with a gunshot wound.

After an extensive investigation by the Middle Township Police Department’s Major Crimes Unit and Street Crimes Unit, with assistance from the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office, a subject was identified as Daquann Smith, 19.

Smith has been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault with a handgun, unlawful possession of a weapon, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.

At the time of this release, Smith's location was unknown, and there is an active warrant for his arrest.

If located, the public is urged not to approach Smith, as he is considered armed and dangerous.
