The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The persons named are innocent unless proven otherwise in court.
WILDWOOD - Officers from the Wildwood Police Department Uniform Patrol Division were flagged down by a subject who advised than that he had just been the victim of a robbery in the 3200 block of New Jersey Avenue, Sept. 5, at about 3:50 a.m.
According to a release, officers located a group nearby matching the description of the actors. Those individuals were detained and positively identified by the victim as being those who committed the offense.
All parties were then transported to Wildwood Police Department headquarters for further investigation.
During the continuing investigation, conducted by the Wildwood Police Department Detective Division, it was learned that the 22-year-old male victim was walking on New Jersey Avenue with friends when he was approached by a group of four males on bicycles.
During the encounter, the victim was struck in the face with a closed fist without warning while the actors attempted to remove a bag containing the victim’s cell phone from him.
At the same time, the victim’s 21-year-old male friend was assaulted by the actors and a necklace was stolen after it was ripped from his neck.
The victims were eventually able to flee the scene and police were contacted moments later. Both victims received minor injuries during the assault but refused medical treatment.
As a result of this investigation, the following were each charged two counts of robbery and two counts of conspiracy to commit robbery:
Hector Rivera-Santiago, 30, from Wildwood.
Reynaldo Rodriguez-Garcia, 27, from Wildwood.
Cristofer Valentine, 20, from Wildwood.
Irving Vidot-Vega, 18, from Wildwood.
All charges, in this case, were placed on warrant complaints and the defendants were lodged in the Cape May County Correctional Facility in accordance with Bail Reform Guidelines.
