The following is based on information received from a law enforcement agency. The person(s) named are innocent unless proven otherwise in court.

OCEAN CITY - Ocean City Police responded to the intersection of 34th Street and West Avenue, Aug. 31 at 10:21 a.m. for a reported motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian. 

According to a release, a 28-year-old pedestrian from Ocean City was struck by a motor vehicle driven by an 18-year-old from Williamstown. 

The incident was investigated by Officer Brian Teeney of the Ocean City Police Department’s Traffic Safety Unit.  

 The investigation found that the pedestrian crossed West Avenue while traveling east on 34th Street. The pedestrian disregarded the red pedestrian signal and red traffic signal for his direction of travel.  

The pedestrian was struck by the vehicle traveling north on West Avenue. 

The driver of the vehicle had a green traffic signal for his direction of travel. 

The pedestrian was transported to Shore Medical Center in Somers Point for non-life-threatening injuries. 

The pedestrian, Louis F. Federici, 28, of Ocean City, was found to be at fault for causing the crash and was issued a traffic summons for disregarding a traffic signal. 

Federici will be scheduled to appear in Ocean City Municipal Court.
