SEA ISLE CITY – At its meeting, Sept. 26, Sea Isle City Council introduced an ordinance that will raise the schedule of beach fees for 2024. Under the ordinance, all classes of beach tags will increase by $5. If adopted, the ordinance will set beach tag fees at $10 for a daily tag, $15 for a weekly tag, and $30 for a seasonal tag. Seasonal tags will be discounted to$25 if purchased before May 15.

Beaches are becoming more expensive to maintain each year, as erosion impacts the shoreline between replenishments. Staffing lifeguard and tagger positions is an increasingly challenging task, as applicant pools shrink and pay scales at beaches up and down the county escalate. Tag sales are an important source of funds, as they contribute about $1.3 million a year to the city’s budget.

The ordinance will be scheduled for a public hearing and vote on adoption at the Oct. 24 council meeting.
