CAPE MAY - A change of command ceremony took place at Coast Guard Training Center Cape May July 19.

Capt. Kathy Felger relieved Capt. Owen Gibbons as commanding officer. Gibbons had held the post since June 2016 and retired after 34 years in the Coast Guard.

The commanding officer oversees the Coast Guard’s sole Enlisted Accession Training Site.

Presiding over the sea service change of command was Rear Adm. Brian Penoyer, commander, Coast Guard Force Readiness Command.

Felger will lead a permanent party staff consisting of more than 400 active duty, reserve, and civilian members to provide the training, military processing, medical assistance, and facility support for all new arrivals entering the eight-week recruit training program.

Felger reported to Training Center Cape May from Coast Guard Personnel Service Center in Washington, where she served as the Enlisted Assignments Branch Chief.
