Cape May County Prosecutor Jeffrey Sutherland announced Jan. 9 that his office will hold a Military Veterans and Family Resource Fair Jan. 31, at the Wildwoods Convention Center, 4501 Boardwalk, Wildwood, NJ.
The free to the public-at-large event will highlight national, statewide and local resources for Cape May County veterans and their families. This is a part of the New Jersey Attorney General’s 21 Counties/21st Century Community Policing Project.
The event begins at 10 a.m., with networking and a veterans’ resource fair. At 10:30 a.m., Prosecutor Sutherland will welcome attendees and touch on local veterans’ issues in the legal system.
He will be joined by Vince Kane, director of the Wilmington VA Medical Center and a representative from the Office of the Attorney General-State of New Jersey, followed by remarks from Lt. Joseph Landis, director of Community Outreach for the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office. Adding distinction to this event will be five Quilts of Valor presentations.
During the resource fair, attendees will enjoy an interactive reel-to-reel of Naval Air Station Wildwood and a demonstration by the K9 Warrior Service Dog Organization. Throughout the event, attendees will be entertained by the Fun & Games Crew from Cat Country 107.3, WPUR-FM.
At 11:45 a.m., meet Carol Fowler, director and assistant curator, National Guard Militia Museum of New Jersey, who will expound upon her work as an oral history interviewer and enlighten veterans on the importance of sharing their military stories.
Wilmington VA Medical Center Southern NJ Programs and Services will be on hand, offering blood pressure and heart rate screenings. Veterans Health Administration and Veterans Benefits Administration will be available for all health, compensation and pension inquiries.
