Cape May City is seeking a full time Assistant Superintendent within the Department of Public Works. Successful applicants will work with and under the direction of the Superintendent, planning, supervising, and directing all aspects of public works including, but not limited to: daily work-orders, personnel, maintenance of buildings and grounds, parks and playgrounds, roads and engineering, fleet maintenance, and snow removal. Helpful interaction with the public regarding complaints and inquires is required. The ideal applicant should have the ability to lead, supervise and work with staff on a daily basis, motivate crews to work as a team, maintain safety, discipline and enforce policies and procedures, provide written reports and work schedules. Four years of supervisory experience in construction, maintenance and repair of streets, or in similar heavy construction and maintenance work. Possession of CPWM certification a plus. 501C-3 non-profit organization seeking Grants Coordinator & Communications/PR Specialist. This Position could be part-time with a possibility of full time employment to right candidate.
The candidate will work in conjunction with Director and team to research and write grant applications while also maintaining and monitoring existing grants. Communications will include writing of press releases, event planning, and media relations feature articles and quarterly newsletter.
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or related field or 2+ years relevant experience. Self-starter, strong writing, computer, editing and proofing abilities.
Ability to write accurately as well as re-purpose existing copy for new use. Ability to write for different media and audiences. Ability to follow directions and work well as part of a diverse team, but also able to work independently and manage own time.
Able to work on PC and network. Familiarity with MS Word, Office, PowerPoint, and Publisher.
Understand project details and communicate with vendors, clients and staff on such projects. Research, write, edit and proof materials for use across multi-media venues and meet deadlines. Work with accounting to track budgets.
