The Ocean Drive Run Club presents the 12th annual Ocean Drive Marathon and Health and Fitness Expo at the Wildwoods Convention Center on March 27 and 28.

The Health and Fitness Expo will be held on March 27 from 10 a.m. until 5 p.m. Runners will have the opportunity to pick up the latest in runner’s gear, accessories and reading material.

The day includes a 10-minute chair massage provided by Sports Pros Massage Therapy. The Expo is free of charge and is open to the public.

Waterford – the Proud Irish Crystal

Waterford County, Ireland, and its chief city of the same name, sit on the southeast coast of the Irish Republic across St. George’s Channel from Wales. The harbor there is important to the Irish economy, and it’s beautiful coastal setting has made it a popular seaside resort.

In America, however, the name Waterford means only one thing — fine crystal. In fact, in a survey of 30,000 Americans, the Total Research Corporation of Princeton, found that Waterford emerged as number one among the top world class brand names, beating out such notables as Rolls Royce, Kodak and Heinz.

Middle Baseball/Softball Assoc. Has New Batting Cages

COURT HOUSE — On March 11, Middle Township officials in conjunction with the the Middle Township Baseball/Softball Association held a grand opening of a new indoor batting cage facility located at the Davies Recreation Complex on Goshen Road.

The facility was constructed with the help of many volunteers, fundraisers and community businesses.

The facility will open to the public shortly with four batting tunnels plus areas for pitching and fielding, according to a release. Professional instruction will also be available for those interested.

Students Jump at Elementary #2

Students at Middle Township Elementary No. 2 participated in the annual Jump-Rope for Heart to raise money for the American Heart Association on Friday, March 12.

The two-hour event had many students jumping solo or in tandem.

Amount raised will be announced at a later date.

Healthcare Resource Day Set at Convention Center

COURT HOUSE — The annual Healthcare Resource Day, sponsored by the Cape May County Health Department will be held from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. April 10 at the Wildwoods Convention Center.

The event is a unique, once a year opportunity to visit with 40 local healthcare organizations that provide a wide variety of services and products in Cape May County – medical care, home care, recovery services, wellness services, children’s programs, support groups, rehabilitation centers and elder care. Also, some exhibitors will have giveaways.

Ocean Drive Closed Northbound for Marathon

ERMA- The 12th annual Ocean Drive Marathon will be held Sunday March 28 at 8:30 a.m.

Lower Township motorists should avoid Route 109 and Ocean Drive from the Route 109 bridge to Wildwood Crest on March 28 from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. Motorists should be prepared for lengthy traffic delays and/or temporary detours to allow the runners to pass.

Route 109 North will be closed from Cape May to Ocean Drive. Motorists leaving Cape May will be rerouted through West Cape May.

COURT HOUSE–The Main Branch of the Cape May County Library will hold a book sale from 9 a.m. until 8 p.m. on March 29, 30 and 31. The library is located at 30 Mechanic Street in Cape May Court House.

The following items will be on sale:

March 29 – CDs, DVDs, Videos, Audio Books and some oversized books for $1, hardback books 25 cents and paperback books 10 cents.

March 30 – All items will be half-price

March 31– Fill a bag for $1

Ocean City Easter events kick-off with a fashion competition for pets.

Events begin on Sat., April 3 at 11 a.m., with the Woofin’ Paws Pet Fashion Show at Carey Stadium, 6th St. off Boardwalk. The contest is open to any pet that will not eat another pet.

Categories include Best Dressed Dog, Cat, Miscellaneous, Bathing Suits, Intelligent Pet Tricks, Best Face Licker, Most Patriotic, Best Bonnet, Cutest Tail Wagger and Pet-Owner Look Alike. Ribbons will be awarded. Best of Show receives the Dean Schofield Woofin’ Paws Plaque for Perfection.

Cape Christian Academy, 10 Oyster Road, Cape May Court House, has posted its schedule of events for its Spring Open House:
March 17 Open house for all grade levels.

Meeting begins at 11 a.m. and includes a hall tour, time in the classrooms to meet the teachers, and a time for questions with Administrator John Spriggs. You are invited to stay for a free meatball sandwich lunch. Registration preferred but not required.
