Super promoter Norman Schaut sold Atlantique City, the world’s largest Arts, Antiques and Collectibles Show, seven years ago when it was at the height of its popularity. To keep active and give back to his beloved Ocean City, Norman and his wife, JoAnne, decided to produce a series of seasonal craft festivals with all of the profits donated to local charities.

The Schaut’s have established a new tradition in this family resort. They have made it a center for quality craft shows on the East Coast.

The Department of Environmental Protection today temporarily closed to shellfish harvesting about 27,800 acres of Raritan Bay, Sandy Hook Bay, the Navesink River and the Shrewsbury River to protect public health from the adverse water-quality effects of last weekend's nor'easter.

The closure is effective immediately.

In the storm's aftermath, bacteria levels exceed national criteria for safe harvesting. The DEP will continue monitoring water quality to determine when it is safe for harvesting to resume.
