Eggs will not fry on a carhood.

RIO GRANDE – In the third day of a heatwave, the Herald team decided it was an opportune time to test the urban myth: " It's so hot you could fry an egg outside," but to no avail.

We tried it on a car hood; we tried it on blacktop. But fry an egg outside, we could not.

An egg must reach a temperature of 158 degrees in order to fry, according to the Fun Facts Website of the Library of Congress.

The automated National Weather Service's station in Fishing Creek read 94 degrees at 3 p.m. June 9.

RIO GRANDE –– On May 25 at approximately 4:45 a.m. Middle Township police responded to a report of a broken window at a business (Barbs Avon) located in the Village Shoppes Shopping center on Route 47 here.

Upon arrival officers located the smashed window but were unable to determine if anything was missing.

Officers conducted a canvas of the surrounding stores and located another Village Shoppes business (Dollar Fresh Produce) also had a broken window. Further investigation also revealed that money from the cash register was taken.
