This Former Mayor Nixes Candidate Voll
To the Editor: I feel compelled to set the record straight about the lies, innuendos and half-truths being spread by Middle Township Committee candidate Mike Voll concerning the purchase of the Cape May Court House FireHouse. Voll, who advocated purchasing the firehouse during his 18-year tenure on Township Committee is all of a sudden against it. This building and parking lot, which is directly adjacent to Township Hall is already being used by numerous township departments including the police department. While Voll would have you believe Township Committee did something improper, the record reflects that the acquisition was done according to the letter of the law. That being said, Voll is now a critic of the township and the dedicated firefighters who sold it. I find it interesting that VoII never attended any one of the three public hearings, which were advertised in the Herald newspaper listing the sale of the firehouse. Moreover, Voll never attended any of the District One Fire Commissioners meetings to express his opposition either. VoII, who has always been the ultimate "grandstander" may have been at his home in Florida where he claimed the Florida Homestead Exemption or at his home in Rio Grande where he claimed the New Jersey Homestead Rebate. If Voll wants to make integrity the issue, maybe he should look in the mirror. NATE DOUGHTY Court House (ED. NOTE: Doughty is former mayor and current Deputy Mayor of Middle Township)

COURT HOUSE — The county Sheriff’s Office has reported that two more wanted individuals were captured thanks in part to a partnership with this newspaper and another county law enforcement agency.
In April of last year, Sheriff Gary Schaffer and Prosecutor Robert Taylor joined with the Herald in a new “Most Wanted” program that featured biweekly publication (both online and in print) of information on some of the fugitives wanted by those two offices.

A famous man once said - "Judge me by the enemies I have made." Why do the Privilged Few fear this simple country lawyer so much?

A wise and excellent choice to serve as spokesman for the Thornton-Sheppard campaign, to restore integrity to the County's Republican organization and to confirm pride and confidence in the County's Republicans.

Why do they put Thornton down instead of telling us what their candidates will do. We haven't seen hide nor hair of either one of them. Let's get behind Thornton and Sheppard. Remember to get to the polls on June 8th and pull the lever for Thornton and Sheppard, and those of you in Middle Township, don't be swayed by the VonSavage ploy to put new committee people in, vote for your old leaderss DVS is just running scared and wants to save his a$$.

What a contrast, Mike Donohue a stand up guy, who should be an A$$emblyman, but was stabbed in the back by the CMCRRO and VonSewage. One couldn't ask for a better spokesperson. And the mudslingers, they've got VonSewage, who has sold out Republican Candidates County wide, whose only interest is in self-preservation and whatever he can get for himself.
Veterans, Seniors and REAL REPUBLICANS, it's time to rally around a man that cares about you and wants to serve you and not the VonSewage-O'Connor Reich!

More good news for Thorton - Sheppard. They say birds of a feather, flock together. Integrtiy - Independence - Republican, that's Mike Donohue in three words. No matter how many knives Von Savage and his minions stick in Donohue's back, he keeps returning to the arena to fight for the Real Republicans of Cape May County and against the crooked DEAL of the priveleged few. Keep swinging Mike...we got your back.

Thank you Ohate202. To those who post that anyone should go to a web page with outdated and wrong information, it's laughable. In researching the firehouse property, as several of us did, I know what the appraisals were. First, both parties got fair market appraisals. The fire district commissioned a local real estate agency to appraise the property. They both matched. Second, the township had the right of first refusal. Third, as Mr. Doughty pointed out, there were hearings on the purchase. Fourth, as Mr. Doughty pointed out, everything was above board. Fifth, only until this election season, the purchase was never an issue. Sixth, if it isn't needed, why is it already is in use, as pointed out by Mr. Doughty? Before I further invest in Middle Township, I'll have to await the outcome of the election. If Middle enacts a Mercantile License/Tax, another 'For Sale' sign will be going up, and that will be mine. I don't float in and out like driftwood, I live here year round, pay my property taxes and vote here, and don't own property in another state, register to vote in more than one state and don't claim rebates and/or property tax exemptions in more than one state, thank you. You can speculate all you want, but at least you have the appraisal information partly correct. To IluvMiddle, the egg still needs to be wiped from your face. Pointing people to 'facts' and 'truth' has it's consequences when you use outdated materials and false information. It looks cheap, to say the least.

There is enough egg on here to feed all of Ethiopia. First of all, you don’t have to consult a realtor to find out the assessed value, which I presume is what you bone*heads are disputing. It’s a matter of public record. Now, if said realtor is also a NJ licensed appraiser and he/she was the one to provide a real estate appraisal, then yes, you would have to “drag” them into it. However, I’m sure it was not provided free of charge so that also would be public record. Now, there are things one could approach a realtor about such as the impact of property values and the availability of mortgages after the financial crash of September 2008, or his/her opinion about the injustice of paying property taxes on a value far exceeding current resale value. Ask away, they have lots of free time on their hands.
In 2006 the land was assessed at $141,000/ improvements $504,000/ for a total $645,000. In 2007 the land value was recorded at $601,500/ improvements $671,900/ for a total $1,273,400.
You can all dispute this until Election Day but the bottom line is NEED. It appears that at one point or another all the politicians WANTED the property, but was there a NEED when it was purchased? Currently there are 324 properties deeded to the Township of Middle. If RioReady is really a businessman (not an unemployed tradesman) from Rio Grande (not a part time resident of Middle who floats in and out like driftwood with the tide), I suggest he get together with his “partners” who obviously pre-qualify or have very fat wallets and approach the township about purchasing another property from their vast portfolio of real estate. Put your money where your mouth is.
Ahhh, the records you can find on the internet.

PS: Rio Ready I sure wish you would have bought the Fire House, would have saved us taxpayers alot of money. Maybe the price was to steep for you too huh?

Rio Ready you talk a good story, but lets see you back it up...just once. You have alot to spout off about but non of it is true. If you have the appraisal, post it I would love to see it. FYI the 2006 appraisal is at www.mikevoll.com. ALL THE FACTS WITH THE PROOF ALL THE TIME!
Wed, 10/13/2010 - 8:56am - Posted by: RioReady2
Iluvmiddle, if you post the 2006 appraisal, you will be wasting your time. That is not the latest appraisal prior to the sale. It was reappraised in 2009, so get YOUR facts straight. $1.2 million is the 2009 appraised value, not $1 million, not $750,000. Having been interested in purchasing the property, I would know. Check with a local realtor, they would know. I won't say who in order to avoid dragging them into this, but the appraisal was for $1.2M, plain and simple. The township would not have paid over the appraised value. It would have made better sense to condemn it if the price wasn't fair. Wipe the egg from your face.

Hey Grammar girl , Would you please give Ilovemiddle some lessons . This moron keeps writing "your" when he means "you're" . The fact that we allow the illiterate to vote is scary enough . But , when we allow the lunatic fringe like Middleneedsachange the ability to vote ( or exercise his right to free speech ) we are really in trouble . He ought to stick to teabagging Voll . I'm sure that would be easier than trying to kick my ****.

Rio Ready, I have the Appraisal for the old fire house (ANNEX). The appraisal was done in 2006 and the property was purchased in October 2009. The appraisal was for $1M. I will get a copy posted for you tomorrow. If you are going to make a statement, make sure you have the facts to back it up!

I would like to thank Charles Leusner aka Bookemdano for removing his negative comments. It isn't as much fun when your not anonymous anymore huh? Make sure to check your history Charlie, you said alot of things over the last year and now we all know who you are! If you wouldn't say it logged on as Mayor Emeritus Charles M. Leusner then you shouldn't post them as Bookemdano!

If you think Middleneedschange, as your screen name suggests, take another suggestion: facts. The appraisal was done about 2 months before the sale was negotiated. I don't think it would be considered old. I represent a group of individuals who were interested in buying that property for business purposes. We need more space, not that we don't like it here in Rio Grande. It was a great buy at that price. If you would have attended the township meetings, as others did, but obviously not Mr. Voll, you would know that. My friends in the Court House fire dept. tell me the same thing : matching appraisals. Fair is fair, and the truth escapes you. Find a real issue. It seems as though you have made friends with the firemen. Who is next? Nate? He has been in the pension system since 1993, so you say, but has he or is he collecting from it? No, that's the difference. He's not doubling down. Post the facts, end the confusion and issues you seek to create.

John: The public teat? Well let's see Chuck Leusner 2 pensions, health insurance, social security disability, son who's the chief of police, daughter who's a teacher, other son making like 70,000 in prosecutors office and wife working for the health benefits company.
Now of course you'll have a million reasons why these public jobs don't rise to the level of being on the teat. But Voll was a cop too. The only bully is you John. And I'd love to kick your old flabby ******.
And RioReady why was the appraisal so old on the Fire House? Answer? That's how it's done in Middle Township.

GRAMMARGIRL: Not me!
Tue, 10/12/2010 - 11:06am - Posted by: middleneedschange
Nate: When your colleague pats herself on the back for reducing the workforce 20% and then buys an annex for 1.2 million in the down economy, to give more room to a smaller workforce it just looks plain dumb. Doesn't matter if Voll thought it was a good idea 18 years ago, it looks like overspending in tough economic times. I didn't know Voll made "integrity" an issue but while you raised it, you've been in the pension system since 1993. Leusner's grabbing 2 pensions, health coverage all while on social security disability and his wife is working for the company that has the benefits in Middle Township. Your mayor while praising giving up her health care after grabbing it for 8 years pays Atkinson's 70,000 for parties from professionals she raised money from. How do you justify your lawyer and engineer paying for a Christmas party for your employees then getting reappointed 2 weeks later. Keep talking about Florida and rebates and ignoring that something is very wrong in Middle Township. Tick tock tick tock.

These comments are hilarious - so canned, off point, and obvious attack-dog mentality. And Nate can't write so one can only "vision" who might have ghostwritten this. Maybe a small group of old-timers, sitting over free beers at Atkinsons, vestiges of the old pay-to-play and "don't question me" system who were the true experts at "feeding off the public teat" and are now terrified that the old system is nearly broken down.

That's a great response, Mr. Doughty. In following the law, the township had the building appraised, as did Fire District #1. For Mr. Voll to falsely state that the building should have been purchased for no more than $750,000 is a miscarriage of facts.
