Coast Guard Recruits: A Grueling Eight Weeks

Members of U.S. Coast Guard TRACEN Companies M177 and N177 take a much-deserved short leave from base. These recruits will graduate in one week. A Sunset Parade is set for Sunday, Aug. 5 at 7:40 p.m. at the base and is open to the public.

CAPE MAY – U.S. Coast Guard recruits undergo a grueling eight-week training program at the Coast Guard Training Center Cape May (TRACEN), designed to prepare them for service at home and at sea in the U.S. Coast Guard. Recruit training develops entry level apprentices for service in the Coast Guard; Coast Guard members engage in law enforcement, search and rescue, aids to navigation, marine and environmental safety, ice patrol and recreational boating safety, among other duties.
