Prosecutor: Insufficient Evidence on Sea Isle Chief, Responding Officers

COURT HOUSE –– According to the county Prosecutor’s Office, insufficient evidence exists to pursue criminal prosecution in the domestic violence case involving Sea Isle City’s Chief of Police William Kennedy.

Prosecutor Robert Taylor announced Nov. 21 that his office concluded an internal affairs investigation into the Oct. 16 incident, in which Kennedy’s wife Phyllis filed a restraining order against the chief.

Mayor Announces Independent Investigation for Police Chief

SEA ISLE CITY –– Mayor Leonard Desiderio opened today’s City Council meeting by announcing to the public an independent investigation into the police chief situation.

Chief William Kennedy was placed on paid administrative leave Nov. 5 after allegations surfaced regarding a possible relationship with a female subordinate. Kennedy’s wife Phyllis allegedly became aware of the affair and filed a restraining order against the chief under the Prevention of Domestic Violence Act.
