bathers | 1 year 9 weeks ago | Comments 13
WILDWOOD — “The beach is great,” said Jason Harting, of Philadelphia, as he was exiting the beach with a group of friends this weekend. “I just don’t like having to walk around under layers of sand for the rest of the day.”
Finding a place to shower and change, Harting told this reporter, is definitely a challenge.
“It makes day trips kind of difficult,” he added.

You realtors never disclose all the facts, because some you do not have to.. and you pushed these sub-prime mortages and ruined your own business.
I see 1 bdrm condo's riight across the street from wildwood's new convention center, selling for $64,500. and the shoppe had a 3 bdrm 2 bath home in wildwood for sale ASKING $164.99. You realtors better be on the move.. out of cape may county !!!
You have no people who can afford homes even at $164.500, they could not before, they cannot now, and will not be able to afford them later PERIOD !!! So the Senate gives them $770 billion dollars to the people who are the problem. They drank the Kool-Aid and are walking around telling us how good it is, until a little while later, when it's to late, and they find out it was a death sentence !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

COURT HOUSE — Cape May County Clerk Rita Marie Fulginiti has learned that targeted phone calls are being made to Cape May County residents from a company stating that they are “working with the County Clerk’s Office” to help homeowners modify the terms of their mortgage, according to a release.
“While I have no problem with a company marketing its services I object to the reference to the Cape May County Clerk. We have not been working with any company in this regard and we do not endorse the services of a private enterprise.” stated Fulginiti.

Hey 10:20 am - I am not asking the government to provide me a house, just the idea of affordability that is not substandard housing. Do you think older women who are alone can afford $300k + on a fixed income? Since we make only $ .70 for every dollar a man makes, is that fair? Your beloved McCain says women need more education and training...I have 3 advanced degrees and what I believe is a good job with a fair wage. Should I have to give up my job and move elsewhere to start from scratch? I am the model employee every business owner in CM County wishes they had - do my job happily, always on time, rarely miss a day. Why should I have to move to Cumberland County and a long commute, why am I and others like me being discriminated against...for housing for the rich only. I would like to have something to leave to my family when I pass...do I have to be house poor. Around the corner from where I work is a small rancher, in foreclosure, and they still want $350,000 for it even though it is almost 40 years old and in complete disrepair...does that make sense to you!

If you want a house, save up for one. Or get a better job. Or do both! But to expect the government to provide "affordable" housing is ridiculous. It is not the role of government to provide housing!!!! Typical Democrats, always wanting the government to provide things that we should provide for ourselves!

I am not poor but I am not rich either. I have a decent job in Cape May county and would like to own my own small place, preferrably in an adult community close to where I work. Unfortunately, the only "affordable housing as such" starts at $300k. That is not reasonable. I don't want a trailer park existance in my old age, just a little cottage to call my own.

Why don't you Realtors educate the buyers, becase you are affraid they will not buy if they know what a home REALLY COST !!!! Educate them about the cost of taxes, upkeep, water and sewer. You realtors are responsible for the real estate crash, and the Gov should take all assets from all realtors who sold property to every joey-bag-of-donuts with no money down, who now are foreclosed on, you knew they could not afford the homes.. but you do not care.. GREED and the almighty dollar is all you realtor are worried about, all realtor should loose all there assets and homes etc,...NOT THE ANERICAN PEOPLE.. YOU YOU AND YOU REALTOR ARE RESPONSIBLE.. i HOPE ALL OF YOU GO OUT OF BUSINESS,AND LOOSE EVERYTHING YOU HAVE...

i cannot believe how many people cannot spell spigot correectly. i agree with the implementation of a fee and reimburse the user with coupons. the sponsors can shoulder the cost of the SPICKETS
Thu, 08/07/2008 - 11:02am
Personally, having travelled around the country, I am not sure why anyone ever comes back to Cape May County for vacation. EVERYTHING costs ..... nothing is ever provided to the tourist to make their stay enjoyable that does not cost money. Everyone that lives here that doesn't own a tourist-related business, and even some who do, complain constantly about visitors to this area and try and make it as unfriendly a place as it can be. Showers and changing areas are offered at the best beaches of this nation. Even the beaches in New Jersey are mostly fee only - except for the Wildwoods but you have to pay out the nose for parking, if you are lucky enough to get a spot close to the beach.
Cape May County government officials and businesses have to stop being so short sighted. They only worry about "this season" and, maybe "next season". They have to look at the Tourist Industry from a broader perspective. Each town competes with all other towns for visitors - don't want "riff raff" to visit (i.e., day trippers) and want things to remain as before - except, of course, for higher profits this year. I've lived here the majority of my life, and do not expect anything to change.
Wed, 07/30/2008 - 9:43pm
Oh please don't even suggest spending anymore money. A simple spickets will turn in to a 5 million dollar adventure on my tax dollar. Larry, Mo, and Curly can not balance a budget please don't give them anymore ideas to spend money
Thu, 03/27/2008 - 4:58am
Cold Showers at two block interviles is a must, if you want to atract first class tourists.
Redesign parking and the city would get its investment back tenfold. Take a page from Florida, Start welcoming tourists instead of rapeing them.
Wed, 03/19/2008 - 6:58am
Good idea. but it can't be a public facility. At first this would attract those family day trippers we want, but soon it would evolve to use by all those types of people we do not want to attract, (and we cannot put that in print). Maybe we should go back to privately operatred changing areas. They should be expensive to use, but then a percentage of the cost could be returned in the form of discount tickets good for the remainder of that day.
Wed, 03/05/2008 - 10:54pm
This is so typical of the Wildwoods and the control of the Hotel Motel Association. They don't want day trippers! God forbid someone should come to Wildwood and NOT stay overnight. It has always been this type of backward thinking from this organization that holds Wildwood back. Maybe, just maybe a day tripper, if he had a nice time would come back and STAY!
Fri, 02/08/2008 - 4:34pm
Here's a clue, go home and take a shower and don't come back.
Tue, 01/29/2008 - 8:41pm
If you put showers then ,no one will spend any money, people come down park up the back streets leave there cars all day , get off beach change in car , eat there lunch,,then go to the board walk or go home, small fee should be charged
Mon, 01/21/2008 - 12:59am
There is a shower house on 24th Avenue, a half block off the boardwalk.
Sat, 01/19/2008 - 4:23am
Wake up Wildwoods. Tourists spend money, even day tourists. People need to clean the sand off after the beach. Take a look at Florida. All beaches provide shower spickets
Sat, 12/08/2007 - 5:16pm
I think they should have a place to shower and change it's a normal request give them a portable hot showers
Tue, 10/09/2007 - 8:35am
it would be a good idea to invest some of the room and tourism tax to build simple shower spickets on the beach near the boardwalk. This would be a much better attraction for the tourism industry than buying the new dump truck for the public works dept. The city has all winter to design and construct a shower spicket on the beach.

Where are these foot faucets? I've never seen them.
