COURT HOUSE –– Middle Township has a contract with a local company to receive payment for hosting its recycling facility and some residents from this community want an accounting of the benefit agreement.

Residents have suggested that records relating to the agreement were poorly kept and that the township and its taxpayers were losing money out of the deal.

Actually, the MUA HCB is $1.70 a ton and that amounted to over 106 thousand dollars in 2007.

Should all host community benefits be for the same amount?

Some would like to believe that those who provide services, can do no wrong. I do remember when a recycling company wanted to come into Middle Twp., they were shot down and the freeholders themselves would not allow Albrect and Heun to have competition. At that time, I was thinking something is rotten in Denmark, so now others think so too. Look at it this way, it's only an audit. If something is found wrong, a slap on the wrist is all they will receive as I don't think, the officials would want it to go any further that that.

If the money was not collected correctly who is responsible? Will they reimburse the taxpayers for the expenditures surrounding this?

The MUA takes the fallen leaves at no expense. It sounds like the township is not getting its fair share. Perhaps it's lining the mayor's pocket. Could this be the conflict of interest that keeps the mayor uninvolved in the Indian Trail meetings?
