Wildwood’s Back Bay Deal in Jeopardy
back-baylandfill | 3 days 3 min ago | Comments 31
WILDWOOD — The sale of the city’s former back-bay landfill was supposed to provide a lifeline, not to mention $2.85 million in this year’s budget and $5 million in revenue over the next three years.
However, those funds are in question after the new buyer learned that the site is more contaminated than they thought.
After an executive session on Nov. 26 regarding the sale, Wildwood Commissioners voted to sell as much as $3.3 million in tax anticipation notes to cover the shortfall.

Gary DeMarzo wants the city to operate by the book. The mayor is a liar, a hot head, and apparently has no sense of order. Gary fights for the people and for the correct path. The cost of the fire truck is not the issue, it is the way it was purchased that is the issue. I love the "gold bar for a dollar" comment. Gary is intelligent, insightful, honest and Wildwoods only chance for change. Give'em Hell Gary!

Passionate about Wildwood through the meetings are you kidding me, you must be a relative of Troiano"s, he cares about Wildwood, he said he lowered taxes, wow from 25 cents to 10 cents, every year taxes go up, he has done nothing but created taxes to go up, he the Mayor needs an advisory committe to help him, i dont have any confidence in somebody like that, a town as small as wildwood is there shouldn't be real estate taxes going through the roof, its obvious he has no clue how to govern the city of wildwood, and the next Mayor will only have to inherit a fiasco that he created.

To11/20/08-4:56PM: I came to the conclusion the Mayor was passionate about Wildwood through meetings, conversations, his participation in WW events and his record of volunteering. No one can draw a conclusion about a man from a 2 minute videotape. Once again, I am not condoning his behavior on that clip, but I feel he has demonstrated that he cares about this city in many other ways.
I also agree that we need to change our form of government. We need to have a Mayor and Council instead of 3 Commissioners. This just isn't working. This type of government requires a great deal of communication and cooperation among the commissioners that just isn't happening. Now there's a petition I would sign!
And those of you who think all of Wildwood's problems will be solved by having Mr.De Marzo as Mayor are kidding themselves. When he doesn't, and our taxes skyrocket next year, you will only have yourselves to blame...and the citizens of Wildwood will blame you as well.

The truth is the City is way over staffed and needs to be cut back simce Troiano took over we whent from 165 full time to 230 fulltime we need to CONTRACT OUT TRASH,PARKS DEPT. Go to all VOLUNTEER FIRE DEPT. Get rid of CONSTRUCTION OFFICE by letting NJ. State do inspections. and bring city hall up to date .The mayor has proven nothing but causeing city to be burried in debt. Nothing left to sell for quick fix so look at MAYOR TAX HIKES for the next years. If we can only recall him and Davenport maybe the cuts will take place and no more tax hikes but tax reduction. It is true that can happen by SELLING WATER DEPT. and contract out certain service. KEEP THE PAID AMBULANCE.... and CUT BACK ALL THE RANK IN POLICE DEPT. .....No more talk on fantasy projects we need to fix the problem as soon as posible so the RECALL IS THE THING TO DO.

Wildwood does not just need a new mayor. It needs those currently in place to grow a working relationship. It needs those in place to start sharing idea's, to stop excepting gifts for some type of reward. To stop using Remington Vernick as engineers as they are over charging. To continue having WEEKLY concerts and events, but managed properly. But most of all they must start cutting spending, reduce the workforce, and negtiate better contracts for the taxpayer.
Totaly eliminate the trash collection and sub out to private contractor. No more 9 trash trucks and about 250G, no more driver saleries or laborer saleries. No more repairman at hih saleries. That's my suggestion. What's yours?
Put positive ideas forward. Stop bashing everyone. WHAT'S THE PROBLEM.

Look Wildwood has been a sore eye for so long, now citizens of wildwood realize there is a problem in goverment, it starts with the town Wildwood, since Commissioner Demarzo was elected its changing, we all knew there was corruption going on, do they the pro Troiano faction want him in office no, because is knows what is right from wrong, and he is doing the right thing, no more political lies from the Mayor and his puppet, look at the voter fraud, i guess if it not for voter fraud he "Troiano would not be in office. WILDWOOD NEEDS A NEW MAYOR...

There are several obvious steps that need to be taken to restore fiscal sanity to the City of Wildwood. The Mayor and his laky will not do the right thing because it will destroy part of their political power base. They need to fire the city engineer, consolidate the 2 volunteer fire companies into one, abolish the Construction Office of the Wildwoods, get rid of UEZ czar, and main street. A lot of money would be saved with just these suggestions without the loss of any city services.

North Wildwood hosts free concerts twice a week and they love them. My family and friends have thoroughly enjoyed the Sunday concerts this summer. Leave it to the Wildwood whiners to keep complaining and ruin a good thing for this town.

Imagine Wildwood continued under the reign of current Wildwood Administration........scary vision. Can you imagine what Wildwood will look like if they were to finish their terms....................increase in abandon and vacant buildings, increase in vacant lots(increase in concrete LOL), substantial tax increases annually(to pay for all the hole patchings of the team), increasing loss of businesses in the city (people who don't want to live here won't make a business here! But then there's "Troiano runs a successful concrete business---imagine that), continued wasteful spending (their record speaks for itself--wait till you see the expeditures), continued lack of concern for the city and its taxpayers (they are not being included in decision making of purchases and sales for the city and by the city), continued nepotism, continued unprofessional displays of behavior (Meetings are a SIDESHOW CIRCUS--WATCH FOR YOURSELVES--PITIFUL!!), The continued inability of the team to come together for the City and Taxpayers is hugely being overlooked by them (can't see the forest for the trees)----------The team should realize it shouldn't be for themselves or their special interests persons, parties or cronies. Should be for the good of the taxpayers-----------without us----------------well, where would you all be (wait let me answer---you wouldn't have a job in City Hall guys)? That is the question!! You gentlemen work for US the TAXPAYERS? Why is it that you haven't been doing WHAT is best of us all?

Gary....can you just admit that you have no idea what you are talking about or how to even run a municipality??????? If you dont like the way the "State" of NJ is run....then YOU should be up in Trenton fighting your hopeless fight there...change starts at that level...get taxation laws changed up in Trenton...our Mayor cares about our community, you just care about getting your name printed in the papers...well congrats Mr. Demarzo, you are famous now in Cape May County!!!!!! Wooo Hooo, can we get the man a cigar!!!!! I bet you would throw your own mother under the bus too, if it would make you famous in Cape May County....hey while you're at it...can you cure cancer for us too or maybe world hunger?????? It would be asking too much of you to come up with a solution for world peace wouldnt it....You are not PART of the problem in Wildwood, YOU ARE THE PROBLEM!!!!!!!!

To 11/20/08-1:38 p.m. - You admit Troiano was out of control, however, you say there's no question he is passionate about the City. I don't know if you were looking at the same videotapes I was, but I see no passion there, I see Mayor Troiano acting like a 10 year-old school boy in a man's body who when he doesn't get his way or someone disagrees with him takes a temper tantrum losing control of himself accusing, maligning, calling names and cursing, and even going so far as calling citizens liars and malcontents because they write letters to the paper. This is an outrage that this man isn't in jail. I think what he's so angry about is the fact that the recall will work and his and Davenport's gravy trains will be over. What did these two guys give up to run this City? Gary De Marzo gave up an $80,000/yr. job and has to take the constant maligning and abuse from these two bozos for $20,000/yr. all to do the right and moral thing trying to help the taxpayers and citizens of Wildwood stay in their homes by uncovering these guys for what they are. Thanks to you Commissioner De Marzo. Keep up the good work. Everybody should get in line to sign these recalls.

The events at Fox Park did not help Boardwalk businesses and only cost money ,These events should be held by a PRIVATE CO. and not have the City P.W. clean up the events. BY far it cost TAX payers money to repair Fox Park after events. We need events but should be sponserd and run by a private event co. Not the personal interest to MAYOR.

In response to last comment ,look around businesses are closeing ,boarded up buildings ,and property businesses behind on bills and behind on tax payments. Wildwood is falling down do to the Mayor and high budget and over paid people . The word is out to not invest in a sink hole like Wildwood . Just look at the Mayor yelling at meeting makes Wildwood look like a JOKE . Wildwood was much better 10 years ago with more resturaunts and motels and stores open each year since Troiano was elected in we lost Businesses and Motels and Resturaunts and brought in more debt. and abandoned propertys and vacant lots and more boarded up buildings. I for one is trying top sell my property but when the new interesting people look at TAX they leave and no response. Wildwood is leading by a LIER MAYOR trying to bull words about high rise hotels but the fact is they will never build in a 3 month resort no Bank or Investment firm will invest in a RED ZONE map that covers Wildwood .Red Zone is a high foureclouser and bank owned propertys and abandoned propertys. Why do we need a nother Fire Truck when we have 4 other island fire depts. What a waste of there money . The only thing that should be done is RECALL Mayor and Davenport

Sure Demarzo is no knight in shining armor, but that doesn't changed the fact that Troiano and Davenport need to go. If anything, recall all three. Being passionate and caring about the city just don't cut it. We've heard that pathetic line of reasoning for too long. Troiano and Davenport are not intelligent or diplomatic enough to handle the business of government responsibly. Troiano particularly panders to developers and has an overblown vision for Wildwood's future. Enough with the high rises and the ratable chase. The ratables tripled during the house boom and taxes only increased. Then Ernie claimed "your taxes went up cause your property values went up." Either he knows that's not how property taxation works and he is lying to mislead the residents(which wouldn't surprise me) or he is totally ignorant of one of the basic principles of municipal governance(which is just as likely given his general mismanagement of the town's finances).
Troiano is arrogant and rude to citizens and has condescended us for far longer and more frequently than has Demarzo. Demarzo has been on the side of residents on numerous issues(videotaping meetings, supporting recall(not secretly) to express our outrage at business as usual, supporting due process instead of classic Wildwood corner cutting, realistic visions of development, etc). There is an atmosphere of corruption, cronyism and nepotism in Wildwood that Troiano does nothing but perpetuate. Hundreds of residents no longer have any confidence in him, for good reason. Troiano and Davenport do nothing but contribute to Wildwood's "beaten down Image." Taxpaying residents, unable to handle these ridiculous taxes and irresponisible governance, are being forced out of the city in droves. The taxes and incompetence are also keeping the smart money away from Wildwood. Demarzo need not be our new mayor. I can think of scores of educated, professional, competent people for mayor whom I would far prefer to Ernie Troiano.

Yes, Mayor Troiano was out of control, and he needs to do something about it. However, there is no question he is passionate about this city. He loves Wildwood and wants to see this city prosper. He is working very hard to get businesses to invest in this city again and to improve the beaten-down image it has.
Mr. De Marzo on the other hand has done nothing but cost the taxpayers money with his frivolous law suits, the recall that he is secretly supporting, and his own soaring budget. He is more interested in seeing the Mayor fail than in seeing the city do well. His own personal vendetta is more important to him.
Do you really want him running this city? Did you hear the way he spoke to that representative from the fire company... like he was 3 years old? How condescending! Mr. De Marzo would "nickel and dime" us to death. How would you feel about parking meters in front of your house? He would also do away with the attractions at Fox Park and all of the other events that are bringing tourists back to Wildwood. Businesses are finally coming back to this city. Without the tourists, businesses leave...just watch what happens to your taxes then.
Be careful what you wish for. You may get Mr. De Marzo as Mayor. God help us all!

I have a problem with the battalion chief of a volunteer fire company driving around in the command car. He uses it as his personal vehicle we pay for the gas. Oh that’s right Wildwood has more take home vehicles then Philadelphia. He says he patrols the streets like a crime watch? Being untrained if he gets into a problem which results in a civil suit I guess we will pay for everything. But he is trying to save money, ya right. Davenport is just dummier then a stump keeping Atlantic Avenue closed make the owner correct the situation or is he a contributor.

Thu, 11/20/2008 - 8:32am
I think all of Spouters are missing the point here. You just can't go and spend money without going threw proper channels. If it is a TRUE Volunteer organization then why do they need to have it titled and insured with the City tax dollars. Nothing in this world is free and how much is this truck going to cost in the future maintenance, repair etc. keep in mind they paid $10,000.00 for a 25 year old piece of machinery that already lost its depreciation and that somebody else does not want . Another point if this truck is so desperately needed why was it not budgeted for or apply for a grant or a corporate donation . I think the entire point is that a few people cannot just do what they want with other peoples money whenever they want in these DESPERATE times !!!

The City of Wildwood has always been a joke. Now, with those in office, it is worse! This city will never, never, never be run the proper way. Too many good old boys in charge. Maybe some day someone will run who cares about the town & it's people. Not their own personal agendas. Now that the meetings are being posted again, we can again watch "clown style meetings" when we are not able to get down there. Does anyone not act profesional anymore? Not these clowns! Wed, 11/19/2008 - 9:34pm; Why do stupid people post?
Ernie Troiano doesn't get to vote on Wildwoods Paid fire Dept issues as a commissioner because it is a conflict with his son being a PAID firefighter.
Just like Gary DeMarzo doesn't get to vote on the paid police dept issues because he was and will once again be a paid Police office.
Troiano does get to vote as a batallion chief on issues pertaining to the volunteer dept. This is not a city entity. It is entirely volunteer and self supportive and works only to maintain the safety of the citizens of wildwood.
Now if DeMarzo wants to start a neighborhood watch program and recruit some volunteers to ensure the safety of our citizens. He can be the president and vote on anything he would like pertaining to that watch and how it spends the money it has raised through fundraisers and donation drives.
Oh wait .....I must be dreaming ....DeMarzo doesn't volunteer or give his time or stick his neck out for anyone but him.
We may not all agree with Troiano but I'd certainly rather have him to rely on than DeMarzo

#3 - THE PURCHASE WENT THROUGH THE PROPER CHANNELS BY RECEIVING BIDS ETC.
#4 - DETECTIVE DICK DEMARZO TOOK IT UPON HIMSELF TO NEVER ASK ABOUT THIS PURCHASE BUT ASSUME (MAKING AN ASS OF TAXPAYER YOU AND ME) THERE WAS SOM

BACK BAY DEAL DEAD>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
Hats off to you KATHY.... Daven*** and ***aino have been exposed for what they are small town men with small ideas and big dreams with someone else's money. Secrete meeting, backroom deals, egos the size of cruise ships. Both men are not self made, ET is a shadow of his dad, living in dad's house with a company that was given to him by his father that he has destroyed, WD, took everything he could from the City for 25 plus years living through his wife's money. Trying to be like his brother, a real leader. WD no matter how many sporting tickets you take or how many personal loans you give to your PD, LT you will never be respected by this community. Wreck Centers, Doo Flops and the Back Bay give away in the middle of the night I sure as soon as that guy gets a whiff of your snake oil he be packing up too. Constant bad moves all on the backs of the taxpayer, conflicts and family hires, did ET think we didn't know his second son Ryan was put on as a temp in the FD. We have had enough. We have had enough of you broadcasting your lies on that radio show, where the host is about to get booted from NW Rec for theft. Enough of the Broadway show that you and your puppet have been putting on for the last 9 years. I suggest you both stop at acme and pick up some boxes so you can clean out your offices.
How many more times do we have to hear " I pay taxes too", well we don't get $20,000 a year plus a $15,000 medical package.

Jimmy,
Perhaps you should take a walk throughout town DeMarzo is just one of many that can' t stand your brother. Or is your whole family to blind to see what is right in front of them. The mayors term is coming to an end very soon. It will be a Christmas present to the whole island.
Sun, 11/30/2008 - 9:26pm
SUGGESTION TO THE CURRENT ADMINISTRATION:
Let's take a look at the status of Wildwood's financing and where the monies that the taxpayers have paid were spent since ET has been Mayor. Along with that the taxpayers of this city are intitled to explanations of expeditures. Let's also see each fiscal year budget plan and outcome for years in question. Change the hiring issues in City Hall and downsize staffing as it is unnecessary in all but the police and fire depts. Then maybe the citizens will start to believe that there is nothing to hide.
QUESTION:
What gives any one person or two people the right to make all the decisions for what is best for this city. It appears that it is being run like a company. It is a city, you don't own it. What it appears that you have forgotten is you WORK for ALL taxpayers. And ALL taxpayers should have a say in what is done here, whether it be construction, destruction, purchasing and/or selling within our city. Trying to network with ALL the taxpayers and feeding off ALL the citizens, as they too have a vested interest in this city I'm sure would be greatly respected and assist you in making headway to a more positive outcome.
PLEASE TAKE NOTE:
All this NEGATIVITY that is being viewed and seeing the behaviors is a real turn off to anyone living here as well as anyone viewing it. No one should blame that it is videoed as the culprit of bad press for Wildwood Mayor etc.-----all you have to do is sit in on the meetings and well, it speaks for itself. EMBARASSING to say the least and well noted in newpapers all around. This cannot be blamed on the commentors of articles as it is the only place to start to have people finally listen to what is being done here. And the taxpayers are smart enough to not believe it all but know that there is alot of QUESTIONABLES that need to be clarified for them. It is the right of the taxpayers to be able to have this knowledge.
Let's get rid of the penis pride and get on with what is important!! .......................................
WHICH IS THE CITY OF WILDWOOD AND THE TAXPAYERS/CITIZENS IN IT!!

Hey Jimbo as you enjoy your ET cool aid chew on this great posts from the past and sing a few of these songs with great lyrics..
SAY WHAT YOU NEED TO SAY, SAY WHAT YOU NEED TO SAY..... John Mayer &
VIVA LA VIDA by Cold Play (I sweep the streets, I once used to own)
POSTED Thu, 11/06/2008 - 7:06am (Unhappy Citizens Mount Wildwood Recall Campaign)
Look who is taking now and all he has to say is “let me play the BLAME GAME”
Presently, Commissioner William Davenport oversees the Construction Office. This office services all of the Wildwoods, yet our MAYOR and DAVENPORT contracted that if the construction office had any short falls, Wildwood alone would cover them. A shortfall in the Construction Office budget was covered by a $164,100 (for six months) transfer from the city budget. That means next year the Tax payer is looking to support the Construction Office with more than $325,000 in 09 that’s approx. (2 cents). City Clerk Chris Wood says, "The office is designed to be self-sufficient." Was this a contract for the good of the taxpayers or for the good of the mayor's and Davenports friends? This is just another example of how Troiano and Davenport are failing our town and the taxpayers.
More than a half dozen Police Promotions 30 Days before an election,WD took gifts from subordinates you destroyed the moral and the legacy of the Police Department. You have promoted the corrupt and inept. You’re a disgrace . I know your brother Sir, and you sir are NO Chief Robert Davenport.
You and your puppet master Troiano have full control of the Budget and the City, if Demarzo is a NO FACTOR then “what is the problem” It should be success after success. The truth is Demarzo is allowing us to make our own decision and the fact is that the City is looking at another 25 Cent TAX HIKE in 09 and your criticize him. You have a problem with an elected official telling the public information about our government.
You showed us NOTHING except failure and your and Troiano’s FAILURES have cost us MILLIONS over his NINE YEARS in office. You certainly took the credit for market conditions when times were good. Remember “Wildwood Update” or perhaps you missed it on the TV while it was torturing the rest of us. But times are tough and the cry is “hey is not my fault, is Demarzo”
You have taken everything you could over the past 25 years from this city, and you should have been well rested for this job since you were sleeping at the FD for that time. Now with your lies exposed it’s a flurry of Press releases and blame. It is too little too late. Fool me once Shame on you Fool me twice Shame on me.
I cannot sign the recall quick enough, I say “throw the bums out”
YOUR BROTHER DOES NOT NEED ANY HELP TO LOOK BAD, HE DOES A GREAT JOB BY HIM SELF...
Here is another post for your review JIMBO ( or are you as a big liar as your brother)
Fri, 10/24/2008 - 1:59pm (Davenport Responds to Criticisms)
Here is a big LIE... and remember, if you lie once what makes anything else you post believable?
"There are 21, yes count them folks, 21 individual lawsuits currently in effect from Gary DeMarzo to the city of Wildwood spanning several years."
Will you post the docket numbers? Will you list the suits, you can't and do you know WHY??? Because your a liar. You insult the posters by calling them "stupid" just what Wildwood needs another bully with a big fat mouth full of false information.
I wounder where Troiano, Breuss and Davenport came up with the idea to press a conflict suit against DeMarzo.... UMMMMM KARAVAN perhaps the guy who made over $350,000 dollars in billable hours in 07'.
I heard Breuss say that she was happy that she was out of politics, She not the only one that is happy, the entire community is clicking their heals.
Get your nose out of that wall paper glue and give use facts not Troiano thanksgiving blubbering, after that is how he got is nick name ERNIE ONIONS. Maybe he can by another friend like Burgess with $25,000 in tax payer money or perhaps ETIII can do the river dance on someone else's face, he didn't need that eye, but he has his now, ALL THANKS TO ET,JR.
Sun, 11/30/2008 - 12:51pm
Everyone's missing the elephant in the room - this is what you get when you pollute indiscriminately. NJDEP should be forcing the cleanup of a KNOWN contaminated area BEFORE any development should take place. We've seen this movie before and the residents/taxpayers are left holding the stink bag. Same thing is happening to the Delaware Bay. Lobiondo allows it, even passes legislation, and he gets re-elected. Polluters keep dumping until it snowballs into the same situation in Wildwood and everyone loses. NJ and toxic dumpsites = perfect together.
Sun, 11/30/2008 - 9:37am
The cost margin is far more then expected to clean up the dump site ,costing 10.5 Million or more just to clean it up makes no sense. The cost is to high and there would be no profit in building homes there, further more even if homes where to built the likely hood of selling them is null as the tax on them would be to high. The city's statement saying land clear to develop is false. No Bank or Lending Co. would risk dumping money in to it ,it would be like dumping in to the toilet. With the Mayor seeking QUICK FIX'S for budget this will not happen and we face a .40 to 50 cents tax hike in 2009 plus it could be more do to state cuts maybe as high as .70 cent increase . This will result in more walkaway owners and more boarded up buildings. The future of Wildwood is grim Wildwood is the talk of the Builders and Developers saying investing there is a high risk . Just one thing to remember MAYOR YOU TURNED WILDWOOD INTO A DEAD ZONE. Your lies and dictator ship goverment are true and spread through the internet and investors like wild fire SAYING STAY OUT OF WILDWOOD. The only thing that will turn Wildwood around is if you RESIGN or get RECALLED
Sun, 11/30/2008 - 8:53am
If the land deal is to be re negotiated then this is the opportunity for Commissioner DeMarzo to get involved and see the details. If he chooses not to get involved then he cannot cry foul and act like a baby about it at a public meeting in front of a camera. This is what he has done in the past isn't it?
Sun, 11/30/2008 - 6:02am
The truth is we have many new condo's and buildings but a good 80%of them are emepty and are either in fourclouser or bankruptcy .Some have been fourcloused on 2 or 3 times and no one will buy them as per the Tax Rate is so high ,and the City is faceing more tax hikes in the future . Mayor Troiano seems to do nothing to cut back and bring are tax rate down the only thing he does is lie like he did to the back bay developer . Further more the high rise projects are in Bankruptcy and there are no investors looking to come into a city that is going backwards . No elected person should have personel interst in projects like he seems to do.The full truth is more people will walk away from there homes next year when we get the largest TAX HIKE in history.

Yes, I am a registered voter, and I pay taxes as would anyone who lives here. Where is a fact to prove otherwise on your part? I guess 52 years in this town proves nothing to all the years I voted since 18 as a registered voter. Check the county records my friend. The truth doesn't hurt me, as I live my life in truth, and separate myself from those who file blatant lies without the courage of signing their names. The reason I commented in a way that may construed as anger, of which I am not guilty of when I draft my letters, was due to the often nature of a mean spirited small group of Demarzo people who personally do not like Ernie. Now nothing due to a family relation by any means, do I say I haven't seen a mayor in decades who seriously cared about this town that was so unappreciated for his honest willingness to do good. This town has been in the dumps for as many years as I can remember. I've heard stories from people outside of this area that have called Wildwood a slum far far before Ernie came into office. None of what is happening is due to the actions of Bill or Ernie. It is an accumulation of the way this town was run for decades. And when the building boom came to this town, everyone was fast to jump on the train. Who wouldn't have? This town needed to be cleaned up. Then you have the administrations of Carter and Clinton with their BS community reinvestment act, and groups like ACORN promoted by Obama, that have given us the recession and downward path we are now living in. DEMOCRATS did this to every one of us. DEMOCRATS are the ones in the lead positions in NJ that are pushing the section 8 druggies and illegals into this town, and every corner of NJ. You wanna change things? Then vote out Corzine and Menendez, the illegal loving, sanctuary state promoting losers. It's too late to get rid of one of the bad seeds, as they re-elected Lautenberg back into office who was one of these such persons. People don't do anything to change their destinies. The good old DEMOCRATIC voters in the slums of the major cities keep voting them in to keep their welfare checks coming. And there is why you have the drugs, crime and malcontent living in this city. The roads of NJ avenue and Park Blvd. are county roads, NOT city. It is not Ernie who falls behind in this action. Lay the blame where it's necessary and call the county to complain. And those who opposed the wonderful recreation center are in my eyes very sad people, as a majority of the funds brought forth in creating this vital entity were donated due to an ever greater need for a new center. When it rains tomorrow, I guess Ernie will be to blame as well. Every one talks about fiscal responsibility, yet they praise one person in our local government who has done NOTHING to save the taxpayers of Wildwood a penny in his department. If anything, the excessive and abusive nature of one that suffers with Napoleon complex is nothing short of splintering. The key to a governing body, is cooperation. But that won't happen, as this 5 foot nothing has one goal in this town. And that is to make Ernie look bad whenever he sees it fit. You want a recall? Recall the arrogant self centered little dweeb that this small group sees fit as their leader. He and his loyal band of followers in my eyes, topples the scales of being pathetic on a grand scale. Who cares for the city, and who cares for their own selfish interest? Whi is costing the taxpayers tons of money? Who has 21 law suits against the city of Wildwood and individuals.Who is costing the taxpayers more and more money by his rat calling to the prosecuters office on an extremely consistent basis? It is clear to anyone with any form of intelligence that sees how this schmuck acts behind the doors, and how he is acting in the meetings, Can you not see the anger and frustration through the video of these meetings? Do you see how many people think this small man is looked upon as nothing but a dividing factor? He WILL NOT talk off camera to his fellow commissioner or mayor. He has an agenda of smearing tactics that get him the false publcity that his thrives on without facts. You all have ben duped. I hope the smart ones can see through his ploy. If not, then you are one of the sheep that he needs to have in his brain washed widdle group.
SIGNED ONCE AGAIN,

Surely it can be appreciated that you would want to speak up for your family member. However, are you a registered voter here in Wildwood? Do you pay taxes here? What was said so wrong in the comments that warrants you to speak so unfavorable about commentors? Truth hurts I guess!
Sat, 11/29/2008 - 7:53pm
Your anger towards the commentors is obviously pretty well understood as Ernie and others are in a pretty tough situation right now with alot of investigation being done. But let this be understood, we are not what is scraped off the bottom of your shoes James Troiano. However, your description of the commentors is how the REGULAR taxpayers have been treated by the City Government of Wildwood.......AND an FYI it is more like we will be watching the names being SCRAPED OFF THE DOORS IN CITY HALL VERY, VERY SOON. And that will be the day when Wildwood will begin anew and start moving forward. THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

Jimbo-
Some of have to make a living here. I don't trust this administration. I can't chance retaliation. I think the true coward is the person that hides behind the city and uses government as a weapon against their own community.
As for facts, come look at my tax bill. It continues to rise and rise while there are thousands of new dwellings in town.

What don't some of you people who posted on this article leave your names, instead of being anonymous cowards? If and only then, will I have any respect for those who love to run their mouths without fear of rebuttal based on FACTS. I find that while many have a constitutional right to their bear their grievances, they are also obligated not to make it personal. And in failing to do so, and the use your hit and run smear tactics, then you are what I scrape off of my feet after walking in a cow pasture. You have a point to make? Then make it and leave your name and be responsible, and not the coward you promote yourselves as. Backdoor deals and all the other BS are unsubstantiated, misleading and utterly false. Get a spine and face who you attack. Pathetic, the bunch of you. You don't even deserve a response from me

The only truth is, Wildwood can't afford more expenses. Holding the line may not be enough without making concessions- in addition. Will Ernie appoint his youngest son to the fire department, in lieu of city finances, and try to broker a deal with fire department contracts, which his other son is the head of the fire department union-can you say conflict? It may be a sad day when Ernie tells his son he cannot be hired because the city just can't afford it, or will he just say, screw the taxpayers, and do it anyway. My guess, he will do it anyway, therefore, he should go to jail.

COMMISSIONER DEMARZO IS WASTING NO TAXPAYERS MONEY, YOUR MAYOR ERNIE AND BERT, OH DAVENPORT ARE THE ONES WASTING TAXPAYERS MONEY, YOUR CITY IS ON THE VERGE OF DOOM AND GLOOM BECAUSE OF THEM.

Instead of naming the Wreck Center or the Doo Flop scam after Troiano we should name our TAX BILL after him, that will be his legacy. Nice to see that he gave his son's jobs in the FD though at least they will be able to pay their mortgage. May be the box seats provided by Remington and Vernick to Troiano and Davenport should be sold to pay off the taxes. The best kick in the butt was when he said the Wreck Center that cost approx. 6 million dollars and $30,000 a month to operate with TWO new hires is bringing in $4000 thousand to cover costs. Where was the long winded speech, where was the blame where was the fat mouth full of lies. GOGGLE VIDEO is the best. . WHAT A JOKE, ET and WD are, at least demarzo love or hate him as a verifiable information. Your a hater because he don't play those reindeer games. Tax'um-Troiano strikes again.
Fri, 11/28/2008 - 3:29pm
Quit blaming Ernie. Atleast he is standing up and trying to better the city. Commissioner DEMARZO isnt coming up with any ideas or a way to help bring in money. He is just sitting quit like the little wuss that he is. DEMARZO is wasting OUR money and should be ashamed of himself.

I guess this is a lost deal, what's next Ernie OTB parlor??
Fri, 11/28/2008 - 1:32pm
You would have to be a idiot to buy a site that is filled with toxic materials and in a town faceing a future of high tax rates .No smart developer would buy a property that will cost over 10 million to clean up and then cost another 10 million or more to build on it there would be no profit and nop one would buy a home on a toxic waste dump.Mayor your quick fix's are over RESIGN

(NEITHER OF WHH TOOK PLACE) INSTEAD WHAT WE HAVE IS A VERBAL AGREEMENT OF DOWN PAYMENT MONEY, NO DEPOSIT, NO CLOSING, NO BALANCE TO BE PAID OFF(3 MILLION DOLLARS) , AND THE LANDFILL STILL IN OUR POSSESSION. OH YEAH.....NEXT YEARS TAX INCREASE SOMEWHERE IN THE 40 TO 50 CENTS INCREASE TO PAY WHAT ERNIE SAID HE SAVED US IN TAXES THIS YEAR, THE 15 CENTS FROM THIS YEAR, THE FIVE MILLION DOLLAR HOLE FROM YEARS PAST THE THE INTEREST THAT WE ARE GOING TO PAYFOR THE 3 MILLION DOLLAR LOAN FROM THE LOCAL BANK, TO PAY FOR THE AMMOUNT THAT THE BUYER WAS SUPPOSE TO PAY FOR THE BACK BAY LAND.
