CAPE MAY -- Cape May City Council voted unanimously June 17 to approve a resolution to remove City Manager Luciano V. Corea Jr. from his position.

The resolution noted the move was based on Corea's failure to follow policies and directives established by City Council by not permitting operators of patios on the Washington Street Mall to continue to operate the patio businesses over Memorial Day weekend based on their failure to submit permit applications.

And Corea is more than arrogant and deceptive. He is ***. The Herald should dig a little bit into that new construction at ***. Scratch just below the surface and many improprieties will become known. How did something so large get built there? Who really are the owners? How did meterless water and sewer become an amenity there? Corea is as dirty as they come. And now it's time for the nasty little *** to get what he so richly deserves for connecting unmetered utilities at that property. *** and Corea seem to think that we taxpayers should treat them to water and sewer service! Outrageous!

Just another town that he collects money from bogus contracts. Shame on Cape May for hiring the dope with a past to begin with then to extend his contract and be stuck with it. Very bad....very...very....very bad people!!! I say that the city should sue him for expenses incurred while not performing the duties of his contract. Then they should sue him for misrepresentation of his past and false information on his resume/application. Instead of the police chief hunting down patio permit non-violators or people who feed cats, they should arrest him so he can't move on to another town to do the same!!!

The restaurants had permits valid until the end of June, the new ordinance didn''t change that. It was not necessary and but was incredibly poor judgment to send the police on a holiday weekend to close the patio seating even after the Mayor ask that it not happen. And, if you were at the meeting you know that Corea lied to council and the public about the certified mail and the phone call. No mail was sent and the answering machine does not take messages. This was the final thing in a long list that cause the Council to finally fire a incredibly arrogant city manager, one with few if any people skills. 1 down 2 to go..

Another example of city council having no ***. Lets can someone beacuase we are taking heat, lets bend because someone is complaining. Cape May council is a joke, they fired someone that actualy did thier job, but the chief of police continues to show up occasionaly and that's ok. This town get more pathietic by the day.

The Pation permits were good until June 30. Corea lied. They Need to fire the Police Chief, she helped Corea close the businesses.

Wed, 06/18/2008 - 5:12pm

Lou Corea only closed the patio/ sidewalk seating for these mall businesses and not the businesses themselves; Cucina Rosa has ample inside seating to accommodate their business. There must have been other reasons why he was fired-- perhaps because he was an all around cruddy city manager. They ought to fire the police chief next.

They're getting rid of the wrong guy.....can the Solicitor!!!!!

Wed, 06/18/2008 - 8:14am

Why are they making such a stink over two restaurants who failed to get the proper permits? The other restaurants did what they are supposed to. Let's hold the restaurants who didn't follow procedure and get their permits on time accountable instead of the city manager who was doing his job.

It took them long enough to get rid of him ... Good riddance.
