ACIERNO, ARCHANGELO JOSEPH (ARCHIE), 88, passed away Tuesday October 2nd, 2012. He was formerly from Pittston PA but resided in Flourtown PA, and Avalon NJ. He was born on May 11, 1924 to the late Pasquale and Lena Capone Acierno. He attended West Pittston schools and Drexel University where he earned a degree in Civil Engineering and was a star athlete in both football and lacrosse. He became Construction Engineer for the United States Post Office. He retired as a regional director in charge of constructing and maintaining all the Post Office buildings in the northeast region of the United States. Archie served his country in World War II in the United States Navy, on the Naval Battle Ship U.S.S. Tuscaloosa. Archie is survived by his devoted wife Helen (Kolodgie) whom he was married to for 65 years, his children Patricia (Roy) Hanshaw, Richard (Lorraine), Debra (Ray) Yoder, Donna, and Archie. "Pop Pop" is also survived by 8 Grandchildren, (Patricia Denise, Ray, Stephanie, Brian, Richard, P.J., Michael, and Brandon), and 5 Great-Grandchildren who affectionately referred to him as "Poppy". Archie is also survived by his sister Ann Belardi, Scranton; brother late Gaetano (Angela Barbera); maternal aunt Genevieve Capone DeLuca; sister-in-law Dolores Kolodgie: as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
