MCLAUGHLIN, FRANK J. JR., CLU, Age 85, of Webster Farm and Avalon, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family on February 9, 2012. The only child of the late Frank and Elizabeth McLaughlin, Frank played semi-pro football after Collingswood (NJ) H.S. At 18 he volunteered for the US Coast Guard in WWII running a landing craft in the Pacific. After WWII, Frank joined Met Life, attended the American College of Life Underwriters, and received his CLU designation in 1967. He managed 2 Met offices, was regional director for MULIC, and Regional Vice President for Chubb. Frank and his wife of 63 years, Louise, have been parishioners of IHM and residents of Webster Farm for 50 years. They have been Avalon, NJ summer residents and members of Maris Stella Parish since 1966, enjoying the beach, boating and fishing with children and grandchildren. "IRISH" was always active and enthusiastic with his golf and poker buddies; biking, exercise and gardening. Frank founded the Arthritic Exercise/Swim Program for Seniors in 2000, which continues with 140 participants. Frank is survived by his wife Louise (nee Taraser), 3 children & 7 grandchildren: Frank (Lynn) Laura & Frankie; Eileen (Dan) Matthew & Danielle Snyder; Jeff (Kathy) Sean, Connor & Meghan. Viewing: Monday, February 13, from 6-8pm at the MCCRERY & HARRA FUNERAL HOME, 3924 Concord Pk, Wilmington. Mass of Christian Burial: Tuesday, February 14, 2012 10:00am at Immaculate Heart of Mary Church, 4701 Weldin Rd, Wilmington, DE 19803 where friends may also call after 9am.
