PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENTS:
• The Ocean City Police Department Traffic Safety Unit is now actively running Aggressive Driving Patrols daily. This information is being broadcast on local radio stations about areas in the city that are targeted for enforcement. Please be advised that this is a zero tolerance program. Areas of concern include; pedestrian safety and crosswalks, cell phones, seat belts, speeding and road rage incidents. This is being done since schools are now reopened and to increase traffic safety awareness throughout the city.
• Chief Chad Callahan spoke at the Ocean City Housing Authority Meeting and the SOCIA Meeting this past week. He addressed any neighborhood concerns and updated the associations on the police department’s current initiatives involving Community Policing and the Motorcycle and K-9 Units.
• Lt. Steven Ang attended the monthly FIT meeting. Discussed were the department’s new programs and our Community Policing programs. Also addressed were police department manpower issues and the recent police department assessment.
• The Police Department is taking an active roll in policing the areas around the Schools during the drop off and pick up times. Parents are reminded that they are not allowed to double park, all crosswalks should be used and no drop offs are allowed along Bay Ave., in front of the Intermediate School.
