North Wildwood’s very popular “Concert Under The Stars” summer series kicks off this Saturday, July 5th, with music from the legendary musical group “The Trammps”. The Philadelphia-based 70’s disco group will be appearing at the Lou Booth Amphitheater on Saturday, July 5th, at 8pm.
“We’re very pleased to once again present a very exciting lineup of live musical entertainment all summer long for our residents and visitors”, said North Wildwood Mayor Bill Henfey. “The Lou Booth Amphitheater is a great venue for these free concerts, and there’s no better way to celebrate America’s birthday than with one of the most popular pop bands to originate from Philadelphia”.
The Trammps biggest hit single was “Disco Inferno”, which was featured on the “Saturday Night Live” movie soundtrack album in 1977. That song peaked at the number 11 position on the Billboard Magazine Top 100 chart. Other hits by the Trammps include “Zing Went The Strings of My Heart”, “Hold Back the Night”, and “That’s Where Happy People Go”.
Concerts will be held all summer long at the Lou Booth Amphitheater at 2nd and Ocean Avenues in North Wildwood. This weekend’s concert will be followed by a performance on Thursday, July 10th, by Shirley Alston Reeves, the former lead singer of the Shirelles. Other concerts in July will feature country music by Tim Gillis on Saturday, July 12th; Emil Stuccio & The Classics on Thursday, July 17th; smooth California surf sounds from the “Rip Chords” on Saturday, July 19th, and “The Quailes” on Thursday, July 24th.
The performances continue in late July with “Brother to Brother”, Bobby Valli’s tribute to Franki Valli on Saturday, July 26th, and “Main Stage Harmony” on Thursday, July 31st. Nine concerts will be part of the August series, including a series finale featuring the Platters.
