Study the genus of verse at a free poetry workshop at the Main Branch of the Cape May County Library, 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House beginning at 6 p.m. on May 22nd and continuing with sessions on the fourth Thursday of each month through October.

“Write here…Write now!” The poetry workshop is about getting you writing and having fun doing it. There will be no heavy critiques, no rigid standards, no negative feedback and no advice on getting published. Each meeting will include writing exercises, and participants have an opportunity to share their finished works that evolved from poems written during the workshops.

Workshop instructor Diane (Devennie) Hamilton has been published in a variety of small press magazines, including: Painted Bride Quarterly and Hot Water Review along with doing numerous readings at Philadelphia venues in the 70s and 80s. In the spring of 2006 she was the featured poet in The Hess Quarterly. Hamilton’s recent publishing credits include The Taj Mahal Review and The Green Tricycle. She has won prizes for her poetry locally and online. Hamilton hosts an online poetry forum at www.newcafe.org and has conducted writing workshops there.

There is no registration required. For additional information please call 463-6350 or visit the library website at www.cmclibrary.org.
