If "angels" in flapping robes are sighted running through the streets
of Cape May on
Pentecost morning (also Mother's Day), there is a good reason.
The choirs of the First Presbyterian Church of Cape May and the
Episcopal Church of
the Advent are joining together on Sunday, May 11, to perform Gabriel
Faure's beautiful
anthem, "Cantique de Jean Racine," in both churches. They sing first
at the 9 a.m.
service at the Presbyterian Church, corner of Decatur and Hughes
Streets. They then
sing at the Church of the Advent's 10:30 a.m. service, at the corner
of Franklin and
Washington Streets. With very little time to spare between services,
the singers will have
to find the fastest way to get from one church to the other.
The two choirs will also sing "Filled With the Spirit," accompanied by
hand bells, and the
rousing hymn, "Every Time I feel the Spirit." All are welcome to
attend either or both
services (in which case, bring running shoes).
