On Saturday, April 26th from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm, Clean Ocean Action will be coordinating the 23rd Annual Spring Beach Sweep Event. This initiative brings together volunteers of all ages to walk New Jersey’s beaches to collect trash and debris. Each year, thousands of items of trash, including beverage containers, balloons, and plastic bags are removed from our State’s beaches. This helps to create a clean environment for people to enjoy, as well as to help protect the health of the beach ecosystem.
There are a number of sites scheduled for Cape May County, including the 30th Street Beach in Avalon. Stuart Cobb, the Americorps Watershed Ambassador for our area is coordinating this site, which is seeking volunteers. Any interested individual or group is asked to meet at the Avalon Community Hall, 3001 Avalon Avenue (30th Street & the Beach) at 9:00 am. Please wear hard-soled shoes, sunscreen, and bring gloves. The event is rain or shine, so please dress accordingly.
