COLD SPRING - During the evening hours of Nov. 11, Lower Township Police Department received a report of a one-car motor vehicle crash in the area of the 1100 block Seashore Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a vehicle operated by Elizabeth Corey, 28, of Somers Point, had run off of the roadway and struck a utility pole, causing a temporary loss of power to the area, according to a release.
The roadway was closed and traffic was detoured while the pole was being replaced.
The investigation led to the arrest of Corey. Corey was issued five motor vehicle summonses which included driving while intoxicated, failure to maintain a lane, reckless driving, use of cell phone in moving vehicle and refusal to submit breath test. At the conclusion of the investigation and subsequent processing, Corey was released in accordance with Departmental Procedures and N.J. Attorney General Guidelines.
This matter is pending court and is still currently under investigation by Patrolman Jennifer Anzelone. Assisting agencies included the Cape May Police Department, West Cape May Fire Department and the Lower Township Rescue Squad.
The individual(s) listed is/are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
