You are witnessing the opening salvo in the nationally based effort to pit classes against one-another. I'm 69 and have lived during some interesting times, but the Obama Socialism as practiced by Corzine masks the fact that they both are millionaires many times over and cannot begin to understand. If it sounds good and can get the most people to vote for you, do it. That is their philosophy. See how many years it takes to increase the "upper income" taxes. Hey, these guys are there already. Why hurt their friends? The voters who put them there are victims of the "assume" definition. They assume that the promises can be believed.

The expansion of this subsidy is not needed by a large portion of an additional 70,000 seniors. A blanket "ANYTHING" is never a good idea. A Means Test should not offend any of the potential recipients, myself included. Catch me at the casinos to tell me I'm wrong!

Just a continuation of the Democrats socialist program to subsidize lowlifes and seniors. Since these are their core supporters it's not surprising but it has to stop somewhere. Seniors never did pay their way for all the SOCIAL SECURITY and MEDICARE benefits they currently get. Now, NJ residents are expected to kick in for their property taxes and don't forget the heating "assistance" program. Why don't they move to Florida with all the other retirees and leave us working slobs to fend for ourselves in this free-falling economy. Corzine doesn't have a clue but then he's never been in the trenches with the likes of us blue-collar workers.

Corzine has lost his mind.
He expects working families, with a mortgage, two kids to pay for, and the average median Cape May County income of $51,000.00 a year to now subsidize seniors with a income of up to $80,000.00, regardless of how much money they have in the bank or how many homes they own in other states. That is wrong. I love seniors but at $80,000.00 income, the seniors should be paying for a tax freeze for us "median income" earners. If I can raise a family and pay my mortgage on $51,000.00 without getting a property tax freeze, I think seniors can too.

Corzine on Thursday, Nov. 20 announced a plan to help ease their near-term budget crunch – and keep property taxes in check – by allowing counties and municipalities to temporarily defer 50 percent of next April’s payment into the employee pension system.

No way should any town go along with this pension deferment. The state played with the pension funds a few years ago and that is a big part of our financial problems now.
We need to cut our budgets, whatever that takes, and continue to pay the pension bill. If not, the bill for pensions in 2013 will kill us.

Great. The pensions have been used over and over; then, there are complaints when people have to pay those pensions.
Reduce spending. Don't raid pensions. They are earned.

Hey 10:20 am - I am not asking the government to provide me a house, just the idea of affordability that is not substandard housing. Do you think older women who are alone can afford $300k + on a fixed income? Since we make only $ .70 for every dollar a man makes, is that fair? Your beloved McCain says women need more education and training...I have 3 advanced degrees and what I believe is a good job with a fair wage. Should I have to give up my job and move elsewhere to start from scratch? I am the model employee every business owner in CM County wishes they had - do my job happily, always on time, rarely miss a day. Why should I have to move to Cumberland County and a long commute, why am I and others like me being discriminated against...for housing for the rich only. I would like to have something to leave to my family when I pass...do I have to be house poor. Around the corner from where I work is a small rancher, in foreclosure, and they still want $350,000 for it even though it is almost 40 years old and in complete disrepair...does that make sense to you!

If you want a house, save up for one. Or get a better job. Or do both! But to expect the government to provide "affordable" housing is ridiculous. It is not the role of government to provide housing!!!! Typical Democrats, always wanting the government to provide things that we should provide for ourselves!

I am not poor but I am not rich either. I have a decent job in Cape May county and would like to own my own small place, preferrably in an adult community close to where I work. Unfortunately, the only "affordable housing as such" starts at $300k. That is not reasonable. I don't want a trailer park existance in my old age, just a little cottage to call my own.

Unbelievable, what I just read. It brought tears to my eyes in hopes that someone who reads this could reach out to us. We have been reaching out for help in ways no one could imagine. We are a family of three with both parents being disabled one is hearing impaired with lung problems and other for severe depression. I feel I have no where to turn.
We are now facing NJLAD issues and have no money to eat, pay bills.
It kills my Husband every-time he would go and apply for employment they would say "you can't work because your deaf." I always get stuck being the one to provide communication in which I am not considered effective communication. We both are in need of all types of help.
My son is attending ACCC in hopes to become a Police Officer, thanks to the Financial Aid he received.
Why is it that the Public is not aware of the ADA requirement to provide effective communication? Had this been provided we would not have the problems we have today.
I had to reach out to Governor Corzine once in my lifetime and a women interceded and had the problem corrected. Anyone willing to help can reach us at Gatormembers@aol.com
God Bless
