Robert Jackson nominated for Pinelands Commission
TRENTON -- Democrat Robert Jackson of Del Haven, former West Cape May mayor who ran for freeholder, was nominated by Gov. Jon Corzine on May 8 to the Pinelands Commission.
Jackson was the only Cape May County resident to be nominated in the most recent list that will be forwarded to the State Senate.
His nomination is subject to the advice and consent of the Senate, according to a release from the Governor’s Office.

Governor Orders Flags Half-Staff May 1 for Slain Army Private

TRENTON – In honor of Army Pvt. Ronald Ray Harrison, Gov. Jon S. Corzine signed an executive order calling for the United States and New Jersey flags to fly at half-staff on May 1.
The text of the executive order follows:
WHEREAS, U.S. Army Private Ronald Ray Harrison, of Budd Lake, was raised in West Milford and attended Boonton High School; and
WHEREAS, Private Harrison joined the New Jersey Army National Guard in December 2003 and enlisted in the United States Army in April 2006; and

Energy Master Plan Draft Released

TRENTON – The state’s draft Energy Master Plan, a framework for a long-term energy strategy for the state and its energy needs through 2020, was released April 17. The proposal is a collaborative effort of more than 500 stakeholders and will now enter the public forum for further discussion.

TRENTON – Flanked by supporters from across the state, Sen. Frank R. Lautenberg, 84, (D-NJ) on March 31 announced his candidacy for reelection to the U.S. Senate at the Trenton Marriott, declaring he wanted to continue his work "standing strong and making a difference in people's lives."

Ocean City Awards Contract to Pave Streets

OCEAN CITY — The city awarded to Arawak Paving Co. an $852,000 contract to repave Asbury Avenue from 14th to 17th streets and various streets throughout the city.
The Asbury Avenue project will extend from 14th to 17th streets and consists of roadway resurfacing with associated drainage and concrete reconstruction. Concrete curb and sidewalk replacement will be determined during the final design phase. All inlets and storm drainage will be replaced as part of this reconstruction.

Corzine Files Plan to Revamp Crime Victims' Aid

TRENTON – Gov. Jon S. Corzine on Jan. 28 filed with the legislature an executive reorganization plan to enable the state to “more efficiently manage and administer services for crime victims,” according to a release.
The plan transfers the Victims of Crime Compensation Agency, including the Victims of Crime Compensation Review Board as well as the Office of Victim-Witness Assistance, from the Department of the Treasury to and within the Department of Law and Public Safety.

Who does the Business Administrator think he is? Rambo....? That guy should stick to the business of paying the bills and leave the police work to those trained to do so, Another embarrasing situation for the School Board. How many times are they going to be lead down the wrong path by him?

The individual members of the Middle Township Board of Education need to take disciplinary action against the Superintendent of Schools and the School Business Administrator. Maybe if the School Superintendent lived in Middle Township instead of Glassboro he would have an understanding of what is going on in OUR TOWN.

This problem has Walter Landgraf written all over it. It started with the signs posted on the PAC center doors along with the school becoming private property and finally the arrest of Mr. Lonegan and Mr. Grossman. All of this happened on school property and who was in charge of over seeing this event Mr Landgraf. Now that he has made the entire school district look like a bunch of idiots I hope that the BOE will discipline him for this.

The First Amendment to the U.S. Constitution is freedom of speech. I can't imagine why anyone would want to SHOUT out against a man who wants to charge $90 to go to New York. He can't even obey the law, not to mention personal scandals. NJ is the laughing stock of the country.

I'm a Democrat and this is a disgrace. This man should sue Middle for Violating His Constitutional Rights. There is no threat or compelling interest for the Police to arrest Him.
But for Republicans who laughed as antiwar protesters were tasered and arrested this is the result of not protecting political speech. I plan to vote AGAINST every incumbent and against Hillary in 2008. As a Dem I think There's only one thing worse than the Corporate Rip Off Artists in the GOP, its Wall Streeters like Corzine and the NAFTA sellouts like the Clintons.

I've attended other events at Middle Township PAC, at which people have displayed signs --- dance recitals, plays. Does school board policy apply equally to every event occuring within its facility, or only to those that are school-district related? If a group leases the facility for a meeting for its own members, would the same policy apply? What if people came in wearing t-shirts that said "no toll hike"?

COURT HOUSE — The Cape May County Herald will get some "face time" at a roundtable with Gov. Jon Corzine on Jan. 19, prior to the 2 p.m. Town Hall Meeting at the Middle Township Performing Arts Center.
The 2 p.m. event is public, although RSVPs have been sought. There may not be time to ask the question that’s bothering you, or you may not want to face the governor to ask it.

Instead of increasing the NJ debt $25 billion by borrowing $40 billion to pay off half of $30 billion, why not increase tolls to pay off the existing debt over a set number of years with the increased amount, put the existing toll money we now collect toward road projects, and decrease overall state spending as Bloomberg has proposed for the city of New York? In other words do your job, and stop the smoke and mirrors.

Governor Corzine says he wants to get NJ on solid financial footing. Higher taxes is not the way to do it. NJ taxes are already among the highest in the nation, and our tax-funded services are not proportionately better. The combined tax rate for NJ residents - including income tax, property tax, sales tax, tolls - is driving people out of the state. The result is that higher taxes are yielding lower revenues - opposite the desired outcome.

The I-95 Highway is the only other true Interstate Highway in NJ, besides the Turnpike. Why is there no toll being established on I-95, as Delaware and Maryland have done, to increase revenue provided by out of state travelers passing through NJ?

Why can't Trenton do what households have to do, stop spending? When my family has wants beyond our means, we are forced to practice discipline. When Trenton has "needs" beyond the wants of the people they just run a deficit, accrue interest, and then claim fiscal crisis, and then bang more new fees(taxes). What is going on here?????
