Pier Playmates Day Camp Ends, Kids Perform

WILDWOOD CREST – The Pier Playmates Day Camp concluded its 2008 sessions Aug. 21 at Wildwood Crest Pier Recreation Center.

The camp included more than 125 children ages 3-1/2 to 11, who participated in various activities throughout the summer, including arts and crafts, kids in the kitchen, drama classes, indoor and outdoor sports, field trips and much more.

The camp’s second session concluded with the annual Pier Playmates Day Camp Talent Show, which was attended by parents and friends of the many campers.

It was a great show, also the Kindergarten class sang "Life is a Highway" & "Wheels on the Bus". The camp staff was awesome and did a great job. Thank you all!!! My kids had a great summer.

WILDWOOD CREST — Take a long walk off a short pier.

It isn’t an insult, but an invitation to take a stroll and check out the views from the 90-year-old Wildwood Crest fishing pier. A crowd of residents and summer visitors attended the July 11 rededication, to do just that.

“The first time I walked out on the pier it brought a smile to my face,” said Mayor Carl Groon. “And I hope that it brings a smile to yours as well.”

What a waste of taxpayer $$ this pier is useless! No fishing ?? What in the heck was Cabrerra thinking ? This guy is a dunce! Who needs a pier that does not extend into the ocean ??

This is a great addition to the borough and my family thanks the officials for the foresight to keep this landmark.

We have been enjoying it all summer...
