C’mon, Cape May voters, let’s change Cape May City Counsel. Tracey Swain would be very good on council. I don’t think she’d be sneaky and condescending like the present city counsel and their water boy Coria. Let’s make a big change, let’s clean house. Let’s get Cape May moving in the right direction.

We need food to live; we need farmers to grow to live. We need the agricultural department. We can live without the DEP. Our inner cities are out of control. They are not safe: drugs, gangs, killings and such. Cut the funding of the DEP in half, take the savings and put more police in the cities to take care of honest, hard working people. Our politicians need to wake up and give people hope.

I was following the traffic maintenance van in North Wildwood, and the only thing I saw them doing was stopping and eating at places and reading the paper all day long. Is this my high tax money at work and the reason they continue to go higher instead of lower?

Apparently in Cape May, dogs are more important than the teenagers. With no place for them to skate, they are using the benches and the boxes for the trees to do their stunts. A park would keep them off the streets and give them a place to do their stunts. I’m a dog lover, but I see that they need place to go too.

It is time to take a serious look at the candidates who are running for election on May 13. Look at their past history and if elected, who they will bring to the table. Are they honest, trustworthy and have a community interest, not just interested in their personal gain?

If any administration in this country has ever done more for the African Americans, it is the Clintons. But, boy, what a short attention span some people have. Rev. Al Sharpton, Rev. Jesse Jackson, and many others: good-bye Clinton. It’s been nice knowing you. You are history. You forgot all the good they did to you as soon as an African American candidate was running. You dropped them. Thanks for gratitude: nothing like it.

While I think it is commendable to collect shoes for Iraqis, I don’t understand why no one is collecting anything for the poor American Indians in the South West with no heat, little food, and no running water. Speed limits throughout our borough are 25 mph. However, the contractors’ trucks and residents on 42nd Street drive in excess of 50 mph. Put the speed trap on 42nd Street, not Avalon Blvd. Slow these vehicles down by doing your duty as officers of Avalon Borough. The children will be here soon. Let’s make it safe for them.

In Wildwood, there seems to be no code enforcement of demolition lots for developers to knock buildings down. They don’t leave a clean, level plot for soil erosion protection. They just leave in uneven, debris everywhere, pipes sticking up. And what about all that weekend construction going on without building permits? People in City Hall better wake up or they are all going to be out of a job in the next election.

To the West Cape May spouter who asked: The reason that the Lower Township mayor and commissioner don’t get health benefits is because they are Cape May County employees, and they take Cape May County benefits, which I understand run $15,000 a year per person. Therefore, they don’t have to take Lower’s benefits. I deeply resent this.

I have to agree with the spouter who complained about the clerks in the post office being rude. I was in the post office today at 4:15, and a customer asked for a money order. You would have thought that he had asked for a million dollars the way the clerk sighed and said, “Yea, I guess so.” The post office closes at 5 p.m., not 4:15. You should be able to get whatever you need until then without getting an attitude from the clerk because they are tired and want to go home.

To the person who identifies themselves as the cat lover: She is neither humane or an animal lover if she is trapping birds to feed the cat. That is a very cruel thing to do. I believe that is why they make cat food. It’s wrong and only a bad person would do such a thing.

To the Middle Township spouter who kills birds to feed her cats. Birds are God’s creatures also. If you cannot afford cat food, you should not have cats. Do you have money to take them to the vet or do you just not care? I’m a cat person. I love them. Wise up. I feel very sorry for your cats.

I have seen contractors remove asbestos from outsides of buildings illegally. Because asbestos shingles have what’s called a friable dust material in them, the asbestos is air borne and very dangerous if not handled properly. The state of NJ DEP requires the asbestos shingles to be removed carefully and intact: in one piece by gently removing the nails out of them and placing them in double plastic bags. There is a contractor who, all over Avalon, knocks off these shingles with hammers and crowbars and then just picks them up off the ground. Someone in the Borough of Avalon needs to see this and be sure that these people are removing the asbestos in the right way.

The section in Philadelphia known as Port Richmond has recently acquired the name of “the killing fields.” A fine officer was killed just this past week; just a few months ago, another fine officer was killed in that neighborhood, and then there was the little old lady who lived in the same house her whole life who was killed by some trash. I advocate that there be more police there then we have already, and also martial law be enforced for four months. There are just too many vermin criminals.

Has the mayor and council learned yet? They put managers in office with no experience, and now they wonder why the town is in trouble again. Can you believe the township does not have any prescription service and no budget? The manager is never in his office, and forgot to sign the contract. I hope my husband doesn't have a heart attack without his medicine while they get this straightened out. Thank you to the mayor and council who put an inexperienced person in office again. How can judges be allowed to remain on the bench when they have been charged with a crime? One judge has been giving out verdicts for DWI's before he was arrested for smashing into a car while driving under the influence, and he still remains on the bench. Is this a double standard? How is he upholding the law when he’s breaking it? There is something wrong with the system for him to get special treatment vs. any other person that has been caught.

Even if the globe is warming, and even if that warming is due in part to the green house gasses emitted by burning fossil fuels, there is no compelling evidence that the warming trend will amount to a catastrophe, as some predict. Predictions are very often wrong. Despite the claims of environmental alarmists, the sky is not falling. It is not necessary for Americans to pay the outrageous costs by requiring higher-mileage automobiles. It is not necessary for Americans to be burdened by spending money on energy-efficient light bulbs and appliances. And, it is not necessary for Americans to bear the price of costly changes in the construction of our homes, offices and factories.

If you can't smoke in any state or government office, and restaurants, it’s illegal to smoke any place, and if you’re caught, you are taken to court and you have to pay a fine. Then why in the Middle Township High School does my child come home smelling like smoke from the bathroom? She informed me it’s the same circle of friends, and each day they are in school. When is the administration going to start taking a stand and stop the smoking? We are now in May, and they ignored this all year. If they don't smoke, let them man the bathrooms. Maybe then they will start filing charges. Who’s ruling the roost?

As an E.M.T, I am very disappointed with how an emergency situation of my own was handled by dispatch and troopers the other night. I was home alone with my two-month-old daughter when I heard someone break into the house. I ran outside in the freezing cold with my daughter in hand and immediately dialed 911. After explaining my situation I was put on hold by whoever dispatches for the Marmora area. After that I was transferred to the State Police where I was again put on hold. It is bad enough that our Congress in Washington has failed in its main responsibility, which is to keep the citizens safe. Now there is a report coming out of the Government Accounting Office admitting that while everyone knows that millions of immigrants have come here illegally, there are also some 21,000 people who got into this country since 9/11, coming through official border crossings while our Border Protection officers apparently looked the other way. When we went through airport security, we were required to remove our shoes. While we do not pose a security risk, we wonder how many of the illegal 21,000 have come here to do us harm. It is an understatement to indicate that our Congress is failing us.

The reason why the same politicians get elected in North Wildwood is because of the 250 city employees and their family members who vote for them. This is the same reason why family members get appointed to city committees and end up landing a city job, which is the same reason the number of city employees keeps increasing each year. I think it matters that two of our current councilmen, Mr. Bauer and Mr. Levinson, have violated the zoning ordinance they pledged to uphold by placing political signs on their property well in advance of the 30-day limit prior to the election. I can't imagine people complaining about 50's and 60's events. It draws the people. I'm sure the price the vendors pay for their stands makes up for the cost of the events. It brings people to the motels and other businesses. Why 50's and 60's? It's a Doo Wop, rock and roll town. So many of the greats when starting out have played in Wildwood. It's not Nashville; otherwise there would be a country weekend. Wildwood and the 50's and 60's are a natural. It’s not surprising that the same lenders and brokers who brought us the sub prime mortgage disaster are now lobbying against considerations to regulate high-cost mortgage loans. Deregulation of the American lending industry is responsible for the sub prime mortgage frenzy, and the economic crash it produced. The Fed should ignore the cries of an industry that argues that preventing it from engaging in unfair or deceptive practices will put it out of business. Instead, the Fed and Congress should listen to consumers and its advocates, who are demanding fair play in the marketplace.

Confusing post on the forum by Sunny Day. The writer talks about young people moving to town, getting through a difficult period (I assume he/she is talking about the problems with the past administration and SICPD.) Question: Is this what you want the town to have? Drinkers, seniors to pay the bills and lastly little children in school?

Well the traffic lights are back on in the Crest. The one thing that we won't miss after we move in the next week is the light at Park and Aster. We cannot understand why it’s there. There is little traffic coming out of Aster, and almost all of it turns north. With the turn on red at that corner, no one on Aster has to wait for the light to change. Township that fantasied that after four years all the "Bush haters"
will be begging to have him back. That was the funniest thing I have
read in ages.

It seems the opposition to the newly elected members of the SICBOE, always finds someone to foreward with some phony remarks. All of a sudden they come up with a Realator who had young people looking for a home, not buying because of the school controversity. Wrong the realtors in SIC are struggling to get anyone to by homes in SIC, along with realators in other cities.Haven't you read about the mortgage problems. Then another talks about what we have when their priority seem to be bars in summer. What are they talking about.

Becareful of any state agencies like dyfuss, meth clinic, etc...they make sure they find things wrong with you even if they have to make it so they make money for the state. Once your in the system you will never be left alone. Why can't they take and help the ones that need it and stop finding things wrong with the ones that don't have a problem. Believe it or not they are not to protect the children.

The Washington Street Mall is almost finished and I must say that they did a very nice job. So bring out your bicycles, skateboards and dogs because now it seems that anything goes.

To the spouter who commented on moving the skatepark because it's ugly. Stay home- and don't go to the boardwalk. What are kids to do when there are no waves? Skate of cource.

The City Bus. Administrator says the Agreement with the Chief isn't costing us any money. A few minutes later, the Council Pres. says the agreement allows the Chief to collect his full pension and benefits. And you wonder why the people don't trust them?

The Republican primary this year presents the option of Craig or Douglas. I will only go to vote if they add a third option "none of the above".
Lower township

i was riding down dune drive and i saw this lady with two big dogs on the center median and she did nothing to pick up the dog droppings. there are a lot of people that try to keep our borough looking beautiful, garden club etc. these people that don't pick up after the pets should be prosecuted. this is a health hazzard and disgusting. this is going on all over the borough.

Thank you to the nice man in Mel's giving out flowers to all the Mother's for Mother's Day.

Lower Township must have way to many police officers. Car 120 was at BOB's tackle shop in Rio Grande for over an hour on Saturday morning talking about fishing. Now thats tax payers money hard at work. That police officer should be in our township protecting us.

The FBI makes another large arrest in New Jersey! Surprise it wasn't a POLITICIAN. just some old ORGANIZED CRIME figures, but for that matter I suppose they are the same. Where is our Crime Fighting ATTY. GENERAL who was touted as a great Corruption prosecutor, the Gov. apparently knew who he was hiring. Get a job in New Jersey and join the team, pas history means nothing.

i am a smoker that is probably seen on rt 9 from cape regional. even tho i am a smoker i agree with the spouter from last week. it is a disgrace that there are no ashtrays set out for us. where we used to smoke on the grounds was away from the public and didnt bother anyone. i still don understand why that was taken from us. it is our choice to smoke and taking it off the ground is not going to make us quit. we dont like throwing our butts anywhere we can but once again we have no choice.

To the woman who works at the store on Bayshore Road who rented out her house on Mowery Ave. Thanks for nothing! This was a quiet block where people respected each other. The first week four police cars were at your rental. If this is how you feel about our neighborhood, I'll buy my furniture in Vineland.

Superintendent Kopakowski is marginalizing the people who voted down the budget – there were three hundred and fifty-eight (358) of them. Three hundred and fifty-eight people who overcame voter torpor and voted. Three hundred and fifty-eight people who believed their voices matter. Three hundred and fifty-eight people who still had hope and faith in the American system. Three hundred and fifty-eight people who wanted a budget review for the good of the students and the community. Three hundred and fifty-eight people who deserved a better review of the budget than was done.
