Seaville - So the last few weeks we have learned that the beach patrols in North Wildwood and Wildwood return pension contributions to former guards, so long as they make a request in writing. Unfortunately, not all the patrols in the county follow the same set of ethical standards. What goes around, comes around.
***
Wildwood - Triano, you do not understand the new budget system. you should have understtamd the new two percent appropriations cap. The only way that this could be exceeded was by placing the amount above the cap on the same ballot as the school budget. In my hometown we (I am an elected official) had to make tough choices by laying off all but three full-time office staff and putting the rest on 24 hours a week. I suggest that you and your commissioners follow the budget. Forget your political promises by claiming ignorance of the process.
***
Wildwood - A state take over of Wildwood is on the way; the governor will not allow Ernie to raise the tax rate above the cap of two percent, so the city will be in violation of state laws by not having enough money to cover the budget. The 51 layoffs should have happened to avoid a tax hike. But it is likely the state will take over and butt out the unions, and lay off workers and get rid of the cronies.
***
North Wildwood - I was disappointed again in the administration at Margaret Mace School for sending our children out to field day in 102 degree heat. The county opened cooling centers, the national weather service issued an a very clear advisory notice, and our superintendent decided it was a good idea to not only send children outside, but allow them to compete in various physical activities for three hours with no shade?! (And the school nurse was not on duty.)
***
Cape May - What has happened to the beautifully raked beaches in Cape May? All the ruts made by the numerous Beach Patrol trucks, which constantly drive up and down the beach for reasons unknown, make the walk to the water a treacherous one. Forget about taking a nice snooze on the beach, you will surely be jolted awake by a truck almost running you down.
***
Sea Isle City - The Department of Public Works group is a hard working group. I just don't understand why they walk past thousands of pieces of bubble gum every morning outside the night clubs in Sea Isle City. Maybe something could be done to scrape it up or power wash it away.
***
Middle Township - The Willow Creek Farm along Steven's Street in West Cape May was supposed to be preserved and protected against development. The county has since allowed two massive buildings to be constructed on that property. The huge mansion and the new building being built on the land are eye-sores. No development of any kind should have been permitted on that land, especially not so far back from the road. The construction ruined the scenery. The county's farmland preservation program is supposed to prevent construction on preserved farms, not encourage and allow it.
***
Cape May - Everybody's in uproar about people who text and talk on cell phones while driving and why they're not prosecuted. The reason is very simple: The authorities are just plain scared.
***
Sea Isle City - Hey, Board of Education: Okay, you did your job. You straightened out lawsuits, you cut the staff (which was needed), but now get out and let the school be a school again. It's doing fine pre-K to third grade. Why is there no money? You tell us. You in the business office bankrupted. How, I don't know so why and how did this happen? Here's why and how: You eight people wanted it to happen.
***
Stone Harbor - I'm Spouting about the new practice of lifeguards drying out their clothes and towels on lifeguard boards near the lifeguard stations. It's unsightly, as well as it's not a good idea if you need that boat in a hurry. I hope Stone Harbor will change this policy.
***
Wildwood - The Beach Patrol chief refuses to hire non-US citizens. Maybe his job should be Wildwood resident only!
***
Erma - What's with all the Beach Patrol chiefs' salaries? Is it true that the chiefs get paid from April through October? Also, can they employ whomever they want during this time for beach contraction and maintenance? Sounds like some small town politics, and another waste of taxpayers' money.
***
Stone Harbor - Is it true that Middle Township, which has about 72 square miles and thousands of residents, has less emergency services and equipment, such as police and fire, than Stone Harbor does, which has about two square miles with less than 800 year- round residents? Is something wrong here? Can you say share services?
***
Villas - I'm curious as to the local calendar used in this area. Perhaps their months have an extension that mine does not? I'm originally from NYC and when the city officials say something will be done by a certain date or period, for the most part - it's done! I was told branch/leaf pick up would occur in May. Was I supposed to assume that they meant May of 2012?
***
North Wildwood - The Beach Patrol pension hot-line has been set up. 609-522-7500.
***
Anglesea - I had a complaint about the sea wall and called my councilwoman, Bishop, two times, and both times she did not return my call. I was told by someone in City Hall that if I had a complaint and lived in Anglesea to call Ms. Bishop, as she covers that area as our councilperson. I suggest anyone who has a complaint in Anglesea, as I did, call her and see if she calls you back. Is she too busy to listen to my complaint?
***
Dennis Township - To candidates DeWeese, Fiocchi, and Walters; we need leadership in implementing the SNJ model noise ordinance for off-road vehicles (published October 2008). ATVs and ORVs are a huge and proliferating problem negatively impacting the "quality of life" for many families in rural and suburban areas of District One. Regulation is desperately needed. The Van Drew slate has done little to assist local municipalities to uniformly establish standards to effectively regulate this activity. Numerous "House for Sale" signs are evident in Dennis Township to escape the ATV "wild west" travesty ongoing here!
***
Stone Harbor - Mayor Walters promised us regular updates on the beach replenishment project on the Stone Harbor website. Well, they're spewing sand at 91st Street and lots of beaches are closed on the north end of town, but the website still says only the 103rd to 105th beaches are closed. Is anybody ever going to do an update? If I were a renter coming into town this week, I'd be furious.
***
Sea Isle City - For the past 10 years our wonderful government has been harassing an elderly woman over a couple of inches that a gazebo may exceed some "pie in the sky" height requirement. Lenny, haven't you harmed this person enough, hasn't the city paid enough monies in legal fees, or is this just a case of harassment or intimidation based on a single person's complaint? Enough!
***
Wildwood Crest - No wonder our Crest is in such an unheard of financial mess. Who else read the article about Mayor Troiano saying how he wants to work with Groon to solve both towns' money problems? That's why his concrete pick-up is parked almost nightly outside the liquor store in Wildwood. Please, Ernie, you ruined your town. The Crest has enough of its own tax problems, without your help.
***
Wildwood - To the Sea Isle Spouter wondering how can their public school turn away children, ask Cape May County Technical School. They do it all the time. Check your county taxes, yet they turn away many students who are Cape May County residents. They also have a huge budget that we the taxpayers cannot vote on. Something smells funny, freeholders.
***
Stone Harbor - Does anyone know how long that construction trailer is going to be allowed to be parked on 96th Street? It has been there since the wintertime with no permit visible, and there are no lights at night to warn drivers.
***
Ocean View - I agree with the Spouter who wants the Van Drew and Murphy crew out of Dennis Township. There are clearly conflicts between the public duties of our municipal officials and their own private partisan interests.
***
Court House - If the pension board succeeds in making the Atlantic City director of public safety pay back the pension payments she received improperly, the pension board will have a field day if they look into some of the employees at the Cape May County Prosecutor's Office.
***
North Wildwood - To the Tranquility Spouter who wants to complain about George Soros trying to hurt Governor Christie; what about the Koch brothers, who are trying their best to bring down President Obama?
***
Dennisville - How crazy is it to vote for a candidate because you think he will actually put an end to the ATV noise in an area he knows nothing about?
***
Court House - I would like to thank Middle Township Committee candidate Tim Donohue for getting the bike path closed. You have ruined our morning run to Shellbay Avenue and we will not forget your petty political grandstanding. It is sad that a politician has to do these kind of goofy things to try and get votes. Me and my friends won't forget in November.
***
Wildwood - I see ET is back to his old self. Hires an old friend, a retired Wildwood employee, to fill the "vacancy" of Public Works Supervisor. Is this person qualified for the position? Is he certified by the state? Or are they still using another employee's credentials for the position? Isn't this double dipping? Hmm. Looks like things are back to normal in Wildwood.
***
North Wildwood - Is the North Wildwood Taxpayers Association the group who came to Marina Bay, coming door to door to sign us up for absentee ballots? Marina Bay hasn"t seen you to address our issues. Guess it just was political, again.
***
Villas - To the office workers at Town Hall: Get an attitude adjustment or get another job. You are a public servant. When people walk in, you are there to help, guide and resolve problems. Have some pride. People walking through the door are not annoyances - they are your customers. Serve them or good luck trying to find another job that would put up with your attitude! Wawa wouldn't even take you with that bad attitude.
***
Wildwood - Is there a dress code for the school district? My child has been exposed to more cleavage and short skirts then she really needs; what an education. I think cocktail waitresses at the casinos wear more!
***
North Wildwood - I just wanted to thank the city clerk for distributing my (non-city employee) fiance's personal information to anyone asking for it. At the very least this has to be unethical, if not illegal. Please do something about this, Mr. Mayor.
***
North Cape May - It's great to see the DRBA out putting more patches on Ferry Road; I think they won't be happy until the entire road is one big patch. Shame.
***
Wildwood - Please, please, please can someone in Wildwood Water Utility Department help us. For two months we have had nothing but mud and rust in our water. The owners of Shawcrest have tried to help us in any way they can, which we appreciate. Cannot use water to do laundry, as all clothes are ruined. Plus, must use bottled water for cooking. Any help would be acceptable, as we are at our wits' end.
***
North Wildwood - I see the good people at NJDOT put a "Turtle Crossing" sign on Route 147E, the 50 mph highway into North Wildwood. If the poor little guys make it across two lanes of highway, they get to the three-foot high concrete divider. Can't they change the sign to "No Turtle Crossing" and lower it so the little guys can read it?
***
Stone Harbor - Captain Stone is right. Can we start a petition to fire our council and mayor and start an inter-local service agreement to let Mayor Pagliughi manage Stone Harbor? Avalon: Solid emergency plan. Stone Harbor: None. Avalon: Mayor present during Blizzard of 2010. Avalon: 20 percent flood insurance discount. Stone Harbor: 15 percent. Avalon: Five- star library. Stone Harbor: None. Avalon: Recreation center and huge school gym. Stone Harbor: None and miniature gym. Same island. Face it, we need a Marty.
***
Middle Township - Middle Township Committee, with our taxes rocketing out of control, how do you justify taking action only when your failures are displayed on TV newscasts? Need more money to better manage us savages? The bike path was left in appalling condition, is grossly over schedule, and is a public display of your inability to manage even a small project. But I digress. During the next election the bike path will be complete, and will be listed in your bullet points of commendable achievements.
***
Stone Harbor - To the Spouter thanking Ken Hawk for the beach fill, that is hogwash. Marty Pagliughi finally got the Army Corps to live up to their maintenance obligation and got the beach fill, and by shear luck, Stone Harbor rode his coattails. Go to Avalon and ask Marty how much Ken helped. I beg you to.
***
Wildwood - Oh no! Just picked up the 2011 Wildwoods calendar of events and could not find the Crystal sale event at the Wildwood Convention Center during this summer. I did see the Delia sale - which is so popular with me, my family and friends - but I didn't see the Crystal sale listed. I'm hoping that there was a misprint or, like in 2010, the Crystal and Delia sales were not listed on the calendar of events - but they happened anyway. Please, please have the Crystal and Delia sales each and every summer at the Wildwood Convention Center. They are both a great sale, and very successful - we wait for them each year.
***
Middle Township - I like directions to California, please.
***
Swainton - To the man that cut me off the other day; the turtles will get you!
***
Cape May - You're my boy, Blue!
***
Wildwood - I just moved here from New Hampshire, and I was wondering if this community is good for raising goldfish?
***
Villas - To the man who keeps leaving his underwear on my front lawn - knock it off.
***
North Wildwood - Stop stealing all of my fake ornamental flamingos in my front yard. You know who you are!
***
Court House - To the Stone Harbor Spouter who really carries Obama's water. Netanyahu spoke to your president like a schoolboy. Just like he is. Uninformed, unqualified and incompetent. He doesn't love America, so why are you so rah rah for him?
***
Cape May - I have found a better idea than renting a beach box for around $400 for the season. In the box, your chairs and other beach equipment get wet, moldy and full of sand after other people sit on them or open the lid on the other side of them where the sand pours in on everything. Nothing like going to the beach the day after rain and sitting in a wet, sandy chair. The better idea is to keep all your chairs, etc. in your car and drive to the beach. Free parking until 10 o'clock and with $400 worth of quarters, you have 400 hours of parking. And how many of us go to the beach 400 hours?
***
North Cape May - The Spouter next to the West Cape May bridge needs to get their priorities straight. The solar panels on property near their McMansion does not look like a monstrosity. Actually, the billboard-size sign on their own roof does. Get with the program. We should all be trying to conserve energy. Use yours more wisely, please.
***
Villas - I, too, am a baby boomer, and I find the young women with tattoos sexy. I guess that's why there are a lot of different flavors of ice cream. To each his own.
***
Upper Township - As the owner of a very popular and blessed business, I would like to respond to the Spouter who wants to know why we block off our parking lot. The liability on a commercial property is enormous. And you should know that we offered the use of our lot to our neighbors for the price of one ice cream a day - and they declined! So, simply put, if they are unwilling to share the liability they can't just use our property because it is there. If you are going to run a business, you should have safe and ample parking of your own.
***
Cape May - I don't know why people are complaining about trees being cut down on the parkway (the dead trees?) when we have to look at a toilet on Route 9 right past the school. Whatever point the homeowner is trying to make, enough already - it looks disgusting.
***
Cape May - Is there actually going to be construction going on at the old Wawa in Cape May, or is that just a way to make it harder for employees of the mall to find parking? Who can afford parking at $32 day when most of us are making $9 or less an hour working at the mall? Should be a break for employees to park somewhere.
***
Cape May - To the owners of Congress Hall who charge us to park in the Acme parking lot: next time I have to get out of my car to wake up your employee in the booth, I'll just skip that step and drive right through and you'll have to buy a new gate.
***
Philadelphia/North Wildwood - We always enjoy opening day at our summer house. This year we decided to purchase all necessities at a large store on Route 9. On Sunday, we entered the busy store and could not believe the lack of clothes on some young girls and women shopping in the store. Very low cut pants and tops exposing areas of the body which would usually be covered, and tattoos which were meant to be seen while walking behind the person. Why not just wear a bathing suit, or should I say g-string, so the entire store can get a good look?
***
North Cape May - Congratulations, Patti and Leon, love you guys!
***
Middle Township - There is much hypocrisy with these so-called bird/crab preservationists closing off these shore areas with their grandstanding and their claim of aiding these migrating birds and horseshoe crabs for the miraculous month when they appear on the shores. Too bad they don't stay around a little longer and fulfill their self-promoting ideals and flip the hundreds of dying crabs that provide these eggs weeks after their momentous self-promoting event.
***
Wildwood - So how is President Obama doing for us now? Two and a half years into this great presidency the country is falling apart worse than it was before. He's ridiculous. He's devoid of reality. He's telling us, when gas is $4 per gallon, to go out and buy a hybrid. People are losing their homes. Jobs are still being lost. He's a complete joke. His entire economic team have left and went back to teaching. Worst President we've ever had.
***
Mayville - Three weeks until July 3, the100th anniversary of the dedication of Stone Harbor Boulevard by the then-governor of NJ, Woodrow Wilson.
***
South Seaville - God bless Alabama's new law on illegals. It's about time. Illegals need to go home and come back to this country, if they want, legally. It's time to shut off the illegals. Apparently Alabama's new law is going to address that. Boards of education in Alabama will not allow illegals in school. Renting to illegals will be illegal. It sends a message that employers will be challenged for hiring illegals.
***
Stone Harbor - I feel any efforts by Iran to become our 51st state should be seriously taken. Iran has made many peaceful steps to Westernize its government and public standing. An American state in the Mideast, such as Alaska and Hawaii have proven to be elsewhere, are strategic and helpful in promoting American style democratic values and military needs.
***
Wildwood - The county library is now going to move its Wildwood Crest branch to another location in the Crest. Why? What about Wildwood? It is center of the island. Blocks and blocks are vacant. Should be able to buy for less than a million and put a new building with parking on property. Wouldn't that be better for all on the island, to be more central?
***
Avalon - I have tried and tried to convince people not to use the silly expression "try and." I'm not having much luck, so I am trying and do it again. Please, people, try not and use the ridiculous expression "try and."
(ED. NOTE: Once that’s accomplished, work on sentences that end in prepositions: Where you going to? Where’s he at? Don’t get discouraged.)
***
Dennis Township - In Dennis Township we have dog barking laws, but no noise ordinance as our neighboring municipalities have. I'd rather listen to a barking dog than someone joy-riding their ATV for hours and hours on end. Where's my right to my pursuit of happiness at my own home?
***
Villas - Can't local businesses share their parking lots?
(ED. NOTE: Read the one from the Upper Township business person.)
***
North Wildwood - Why are cars parked on the corner in North Wildwood not being ticketed and/or towed? I realize you do not want to scare away the tourists, but this creates a poor visibility hazard. Especially in the growing business block of New York Avenue between 17th and 18th, where there have been accidents in the past.
***
Stone Harbor - Could someone please try to explain to me the advantage of building a library on a beachfront lot? Is a library really a priority? How about following what Avalon did and put that money into an offshore shelter instead? There is now Internet, Kindles, and Wifi, in case you haven't heard; very few people even use a library anymore.
***
Stone Harbor - Just arrived for our annual month-long vacation. Running the length of the beach is a chest-high rusty pipe that emits sounds like a restroom. Why are we doing this now?
***
North Wildwood - There are three handicapped spaces in the 100 block of 19th, only one belonging to a year-round resident. Buses and trains have special seating for the handicapped, but others can use that seating and move when the seating is needed by the handicapped. We need a similar process for these parking spaces. Others should be able to use when not in use by the handicapped, especially the two spaces reserved for part-time Wildwood residents.
***
Wildwood Crest - To the Spouter who commented on the complaint of sand blowing into homes and down the streets due to the new "dunes." The gist (which means main point) of the issue clearly flew right over your head. The issue is that there is a flaw (which means a defect) in the overall design. They are creating other problems with this "solution." No need to be so nasty because some people have worked hard to own a beach home. Now you can get back to watching "One Life to Live" and further understanding the real problems of the world.
***
Swainton - To the man with 30 dozen turtles in his back yard; don't you think they would like to be in their own habitat and free to roam the wild? I hope some vultures come and eat your turtles.
***
Lower Township - Thank you to the couple who brought my dog home, I was happy but upset at the same time. When he arrived his tail was cut off and his ear was pierced. Thank you, now he looks like he belongs in an 80s band.
***
Middle Township - So now we have wallabies escaping from the zoo? What else?
***
North Cape May - I have read in the Spout Off over the years this belief that if it gets printed something will be done about it. If you have a problem and are in need of a service from the outstanding members of our township, then call them. I have never ever had any call I have made to the township's departments not answered and resolved.
***
Dennisville - Wow! I think it's time for us to stop worrying about the ATV riders on Gravel Hole Road and start worrying about the clowns riding unicycles; what is this world coming to?
***
Middle Township - Trevor is my hero.
***
Wildwood Crest - Who wears short shorts?
***
Middle Township - To the man with the mustache at the Avalon Golf Club - that is so cute!
***
Lower Township - I'd like to add a little voice of common sense to this section. If you have a problem with your neighbor you do what we used to do back when; you walk up to them and talk to them about it. If that doesn’t help, then you call the proper office. I feel there is this sense of disconnect with our fellow human beings where we favor the childish attitude of telling on someone, rather than just plain asking them to fix the problem. It has always worked for me. If that doesn’t work, then call the township, but not the Spout Off. Let's save that for some up-beat stuff.
***
Villas - Someone needs to do something about those tall poles that run along every road. They are connected by long black ropes. They are dangerous, because I climbed one the other day, thinking it was a tree, and it hurt me pretty bad.
***
Clermont - To the man that keeps letting his emus poop on my lawn; next time, clean it up.
***
Middle Township - I love my new train horn!
***
Stone Harbor - There are no stones in this harbor.
***
Avalon - Happy Birthday, Doug Greenburg!
***
Goshen - There are two trains coming through Cape May County: A Chevy and a Ford! Honk on!
***
Woodbine - The mayor and the council in Woodbine do an excellent job. Just because they have earned their money with hard work and perseverance does not mean they should not represent the people of the borough. They obviously are excellent money managers, both for themselves and the borough. Our taxes are staying under control, the town has shown some growth, and our school and library have been undergoing great changes and improvement with no increase in taxes.
***
Stone Harbor - Next year, instead of burning socks on the beach, let's have a big barbeque and invite the taxpayers to participate.
***
Villas - Good job to the Lower Cape May Boys Varsity Baseball team, you did a great job this year. To the seniors, good luck with your futures, and to the rest of the team, good luck next year. You boys were fun to watch and Myrtle Beach was a blast.
***
Villas - Tired of sitting in traffic to get to the shore. Why don't they open the Seashore Lines again so we have a safe, efficient, quick, and environmentally friendly way to get to the cape? Imagine being able to take the train from Lower Township all the way to Philly for the day. The tracks and right of way are already there, so why are none of our politicians even considering it, especially with the uncertainty of gas prices?
***
Wildwood - Nice job to Mayor Frederick and West Wildwood for the bulkhead along 26th Street. It allows for a nice view of the back bay area. It's my new favorite place to walk in the morning.
***
Villas - I saw another sign of spring today on West Tampa Avenue. It was the four-feet-high grass!
***
Villas - How is it that the waitresses in the local restaurants place the coffee cups upside down on the table they just cleaned with disinfectant? Don't they realize the customer has to put their mouth on the cup to drink out of it?
***
Middle Township - You ought to start a "What were you thinking" section. Here's one: "What were you thinking when you parked right up next to the stop sign?" Were you thinking you were parking on the side of the road? No. You weren't thinking. You are parking on the road.
***
Villas - When you were paid money for your parking area, none of the problems listed in your letter to the community seemed to bother you. Get real, it is all about the money.
***
Cape May - I just read your article on the Cape May dog park. I live just yards away from park, and it is so annoying to have dogs barking before seven in the morning, both for me and my guests. The article says it is open dawn to dusk. Every day of the year. Has no provision been made for a barking law there? I see everything but barking rules. Please do something, this is what I read. The park will be open sunrise to sunset, seven days per week. Dog owners must clean up after their pets. A plastic bag dispenser is located inside the park.
***
Cape May - When the grid goes down (yet again) here in Cape May County, when the hurricanes and blizzards hit and more, the owners of said "monstrosity" solar panel structure and all other foreseeing intelligent and energy-responsible folks who have installed alternative energy devices will be warm and dry and laughing all the way to the bank, as well on their utility savings. You, on the other hand, will be in a cold, hungry, sorry condition.
***
Avalon - To the person who stole the turtle crossing sign at 56th and Ocean Drive - we hope you will use it to protect the turtles that try to cross Ocean Drive by making motorists stop. Otherwise you are just trying to show off.
***
Villas - To the person who is complaining about the dogs barking in Villas; it's all over Villas, along with loose dogs all over, mostly pit bulls. I think the Villas is the pit bull capital. I live on Langs Avenue, and the dogs bark all the time; we have the most non-caring neighbors.
***
Rio Grande - It is a wonder why Wildwood is so divided and not diverse. When you have to listen to a poem from children and get interrupted from another child reading that portion in Spanish, schools only do that here and I have been to several of my cousins' school graduations and other school events this year in Pa., and they do not do this. Please teach the parents English, since this is America's language. Parents are taught this in other states and it can be done; the parents will thank you.
***
Sea Isle City - It's official. According to the renowned solar scientists, the U.S. National Solar Observatory (NSO) and US Air Force Research Laboratory, the sun is going into hibernation. Another mini ice age like the one experience from 1645 to 1710 is almost certain. And our government is still screaming global warming. As even the Weather Channel admits, we can only have these terrible tornado storms when the earth is cooling. These solar spot droughts usually last 70 years.
***
Dennis Township - To the Spouters who continue to argue about ATVs; you're never going to agree, so drop it! I'm tired of reading about it every week.
***
North Wildwood/Wildwood - Glad I went to take my kids to the Boardwalk on Monday night, they got a real learning experience seeing drunk kids all over the place, some so messed up they were puking over railing onto the beach. No cops around, those obnoxious bugle things being blown in your face, and best of all, locked bathrooms! Yep, haven't been to the Wildwoods in years and definitely not coming back Ocean City as it is!
***
North Wildwood - Parking is North Wildwood's problem and getting a good beach spot is difficult; running a jitney-type bus up and down the streets might be the answer. Creative ideas are needed.
***
Stone Harbor - More on Stone Harbor schoolyard/community garden: It's public property - no lease, sale or development issues. Water would be available for a hose hookup. Divided into small allotments, year-round residents could be invited to garden an allotment, enticed by the promise of tasty, healthy produce. Due to central location, it would be within walking distance for most residents (important to me). More later.
***
North Wildwood - To the Spouter about the taxes in North Wildwood; first of all, get your facts correct before you put it in the Spout Off. The mayor and council are doing a great job; maybe you should move to Wildwood, the Crest or West Wildwood if you're not happy.
***
Villas - To the people having bonfires on the beach between Birch and Arbor Roads in Villas: Please pick up your trash and take it with you when you leave. Don't leave your beer cans and liquor bottles all over the beach.
***
North Wildwood - If everyone in this town minded their own business and didn't try to call people out on things, we would be in as big a mess as Wildwood!
***
Court House - Stop rescuing dogs from southern kill shelters. New Jersey has plenty of dogs that do not have homes. Southern dogs frequently carry diseases not ordinarily found in NJ. Too many end up in our shelters on the taxpayer's dime. This activity allows southern states not to address their unwanted animal population. Instead, send the money you would spend transporting and vetting the dogs to a southern spay/neuter program or use the money for stamps to write to southern officials. Adopt a Jersey dog.
***
Dennis Township - Solar energy is the future. We should applaud the solar energy-using resident living by the West Cape May bridge and follow his/her example. Bravo!
***
Erma - I would like to thank Adrian Rojas and Jonayson Vazques from the Millville Rescue Squad. They transported my wife from Cape Regional Medical Center to AtlantiCare in Pomona. They were very professional, understanding, thoughtful, and caring. The rescue squad is very lucky to have them on their crew.
***
Cold Spring - I never heard of anyone eating dog food because they were too poor to buy regular food. Doesn't Cape May County Social Services have programs for poverty level people? I have a neighbor who is a senior, and she gets food stamps.
***
Cape May - Attention, all NJEA members, each September we get a TPAF (Teachers Pension and Annuity Fund Personal Benefits Statement) update. Please review it closely, as it clearly states whether or not you are in a position to retire. Some of you folks that are getting a bit "long in the tooth" should consider this. If you are an avid NJEA kool-aid drinker, complain about getting your lunch and prep during easy June days, and gripe about being in school when temps rise about 90, well then you have overstayed your welcome! Retire now, as you will be freeing up a ton of money. We will survive without you!
***
Court House - Walker Kasser Ranger is the man!
