To the Spouter complaining about the condition of the soccer fields at Goshen, did you miss all the rain we have been getting lately? The fields should not even be used right now, but of course Cape Express is out there all the time! Maybe you should call them and complain, since none of the recreation programs are even using the fields, yet they are expected to pay for all the damage. I think it’s time Cape Express finds some where else to practice and play all their games!

I think there needs to be some kind of filter on the Spout Off. At least make it so the same IP address cannot submit more than one Spout per week. That Sea Isle Spouter took up a lot of room (it was obviously one person who is unhappy about their unlocked home being broken into).

It's our family’s first weekend down since the fall. We were so excited to open our house, until reality set in. We looked around and our house was the same, but the surrounding neigborhood wasn't. We were shocked to see the island was in horrible condittion. Nothing had been taken care of or repaired. I have to ask, where are our tax dollars going? Obviously not to anything it used to.

We were planning on bringing the family down to Stone Harbor for the Easter weekend. Why is this the only shore town with no weekend events for the chldren? We checked the Chamber web site, and nothing. Then we checked Cape May, Ocean City and the Wildwoods. They all have Easter egg hunts and other events this weekend. Somebody needs to do something to wake this town up and get with the program. No events equals no visitors.

Look at our high budget and taxes and then at the police salaries. Unbelievable. Does our small town need police officers making $ 75,000 after a few years ? Then soon become Sgts., Lts, Captains, Chiefs, and the salary has no limit. What percent of our taxpayers make that kind of money?

I am reading a book called "The Myth of Separation," by David Barton. This is an excellent book. In addition to expelling the myth of the separation of Church and State, it serves as a vital history lesson and a call to action. We the People have been asleep. It is high time to awake out of sleep. Let us reacquaint ourselves with the founding documents of our nation. This should be done well in advance of the November elections.

The Spouter is right about the continued destruction of the sand dunes on the west side of the promenade. This week the people on the south side of 51st Street dug a new pathway right through the dune. It has been several years since the bar completely removed the dune in front of their property. Yet, nothing is ever done to stop these illegal activities. Why?

Help Middle teachers! The budget calls for 32 teacher layoffs. This means class sizes will rise excessively, less student-teacher contact, little if any small group interactions. Our children’s education is going to slip through the cracks. We must save jobs and the education of our town!

Wildwood Crest better budget properly for their biggest attraction. The beach. Hopefully there will be plenty of lifeguards and proper irragation for the rain water this year. See you Memorial Day. Paul D.

Can the Middle Township Board and teachers come to some sort of understandment before April 20 to save teachers? I feel I shouldn't agree to a tax increase without someone bending to save jobs. It's in the paper everyday that everywhere around our district progarams are being cut or acts of kindness are being completed in order to save our education. Why is Middle not doing the same?

To those who are noting all the trees and branches lined up on Middle Township streets - many of those are from commercial sites. We are subsidizing those landscaping companies that are charging customers for "retrieval" and then dumping their trucks on the side of the street.

That former Middle Township official who bragged and joked about using Spout Off when he worked at Town Hall sure keeps Spouting - but what is it about anonymity that is so attractive to him - could it be that his allegations can rarely bear the light of day? As wonderful as Spout Off is for legitimate purposes, this guy should man up and discover life.

Came to Cape May for the weekend. What [Incredibly Smart Person] picked the vulgar, out of character for Cape May structures at the entrance? Either Cape May should get rid of them or send back its National Landmark Status. They are beyond awful. They are even too tacky for a miniature golf course.

Every morning I get up a few hours before I have to go to work. At least three times a week I see a Wildwood Police Durango parked a block from my house on Ninth Street in North Wildwood for hours. Sometimes it is there from the time I wake up at 2 a.m. and is there when I leave for work at 5:30 a.m. Is North Wildwood reimbursing Wildwood for the added police protection?

I took my 5-year-old grandson to the Wildwood Easter Egg Hunt on the beach on Saturday. He was directed to hunt in the area marked off for 5- to 8-year-olds. Imagine my surprise when I saw him digging away next to two mothers who were practically shoveling sand in his face in their quest for a "golden egg" for their own children. Did they consider what a terrible example of poor sportsmanship that they were setting? Well, the one joyful mother did dig up a "golden egg" for her "lucky" child. For shame.

I just noticed that a house on First Street that was there for years is gone. Someone told me a councilman got the house, and the city gave him the front and some extra land on the side. Is that true? If that is true, would the mayor and council have done that for Joe Q citizen? Someone else told me he already sold the property to someone for over a million. What is going on in North Wildwood? I guess that is why it is worth being on council. I wish I could vote down here.

I agree with the person who wrote that the Chief of Detectives should be replaced from outside. If that office has not been managed properly for years than a change is needed. First get Taylor out of there and now that the Chief is retiring, get someone who can think for themselve and not be told what to do by the Prosecutor. Why do we in Cape May County always get the worst leaders? Look what Taylor did to that office and the money it cost taxpayers with all the people and equipment his office got. Has anyone in that office solved a serious crime?

My crawlspace recently flooded and shorted out the water pump, hence having no water in the house and having stagnet water under the floor. I wish to give my heartful thankfulness to Bryon and Chuck from the Villas Fire Department for all your help. Your kindness will never be forgotten. Your help allowed our family to remain in our home. Thank you very much.

Can something be done about the broken glass all over Millman Park at Harvard Street and Tomlin Avenue? It’s all over the playground area in little pieces. It would be nice if the kids could play without us parents worrying about them getting cut.

Dennisville Road from the hospital to past Shadow Lane is in deplorable condition. It has potholes, a very uneven roadway, and unbelievable flooding conditions. Since this has been going on for years, does the county road department not notice, or is it they just don't care? Come on - a quick resurfacing will correct these problems.

I really think it’s a shame that the kids in this town don’t have a baseball field to play on. Opening day is the 17th, and they haven’t even started the fields for the kids. Let’s worry less about sidewalks and more about the children. I hope the mayor makes this a priority for the next two weeks.

The Friends of Cape May Refuge had a clean up on Indian Trail on Saturday, going into the woods and pulling out trash! Monday, the township truck went in and picked it all up. Stagecoach Road looks like a war zone. Huge piles of debris has been laying at almost every front yard for over a month. It's now becoming a fire hazzard. Very dangerous. Indian Trail could have waited! It wasn't a even a traffic hazzard!

As a parent with several children in the Dennis Township School District, I was extremely appalled when my 7-year-old child came home with her "teacher's cell phone number." My child said that this “teacher” is a 19-year-old and plays with the children on the playground. I would hope that the school will get this issue under control, because an immense amount of parents have experienced the same dilemma in their household.

To the person complaining abot the barking dogs, would you so kind to say on what street of what town? News flash, why should have to bow down to shoobies, we live here all year round. If they don’t like it tell them to stay in a hotel were they can get some peace and quiet. Do you think it’s fair having to put up with shoobies that stay up and party till two in the morning when people have to get up early and have to go work? I think not.

Just think! Middle of April and ponding water is still everywhere! Mold and mildew is rampant and mosquito season is just around the corner. Consider! Sand is being pumped onto local tourist beaches at a record rate and yet local residents are still ignored. Money buys response, not righteousness. It is about time the "lighthouses" at the beginning of Cape May get taken down, they are blocking the sign that lets people know they are actually entering the "City of Cape May." The late Steve Peckiconis took a long time to get that sign put up and he is probably rolling over in his grave.

To the person complaining about the music on 96th Street. You must have super sonic hearing if you can hear it a block away. I live one block over and don't hear a thing at my house. Most people enjoy the music; it brings some life into this otherwise dead town. There is nothing they play that is inappropriate as you stated. Perhaps you should take another route when you walk your dog.

To the Spouter who said to stop complaining about the Lower MUA. The new member may be a soccer coach, but he is also a business owner, like other members on the board that the mayor and deputy mayor voted to put there. The last time I checked, the qualifications had nothing to do with attending meetings. It is funny how the LTTA folks get thier noses out of joint when one of their people does not get put on the MUA Board.

It is easy to point out when others are being prejudice against a race or gender; but the more pervasive and insidiously destructive one is that of those who think they are better then the rest of us, because they have more money, power and/or connections, so therefore those who have less, they beleive, should be prosecuted for being poor and have fewer rights and no recourse when it comes to legal and medical choice and need.

I would like to know the young lady’s name who works in the Lower Township Tax Office. She is one of the most pleasant and informative people I have met in a long time. Hats off to her, and Mayor Beck should be glad someone works in town hall without an attitude!

I've been reading about the governor wanting us all to make sacrifices. My problem is I don't see any sacrifice being made by the governor or the legislature. I should hope the US Postal Service is in the black now, considering the millions of dollars the US Census Bureau spent on postage sending notices to watch for the census 2010 form. The Middle Township School Board should cut all sports before any teacher is fired. Education is more important than sports. Middle Township has spent too much on sports, for too long, at the expense of education. Every year the district offered more sports, hired more coaches and increased coaching stipends. Taxpayers are obligated to fund education, not sports.

On 12th and Central, the northeast corner, why do the police continue to allow the people that own the house on that corner to park against the grain of traffic? Kathleen McPherson, Lower Township Manager, is worth her weight in gold. If she were a man noone would even question her salary. Just look at the last manager the last council put in office. Ms. McPherson has eliminated jobs through retirement and is an asset to our community.

It’s nice to see that we have a mayor now that is going forward by trying to make West Wildwood an open and honest place to live. I read the new proposal for resident parking permits, but it isn't clear whether only full-time residents will qualify for a permit. One of the complaints about the last ordinance was that parking spaces sat vacant and unusable by the public for eight to 10 months a year. Cape May does have high parking demand in the off-season during the spring, fall, and holiday season and when parades are held. This new proposal is also inconsistent with Cape May's plan to add 300 new metered parking spaces. The new resident parking permit proposal, like the last one, will reduce parking meter revenue.

That was really bad down at the Cape May City Elementary School Easter Egg Hunt sponsored by the Cape May Kiwanis. The boys all got 10 eggs while the girls got one egg if they were lucky. With all this warm weather in our forecast, most of us have forgotten about the February blizzard that dropped nearly two feet of snow in our area. The fact that not one of the 11 bids to construct the new convention hall was within budget proves that the project was flawed from the beginning. "Parking Permits for Residents," are you kidding me! Elderly people who are handicapped can get a free space in front of their homes. Non-handicapped people can walk around the corner to their car. If these people want a place to park their cars, just look in the real estate section of any local paper. There are many homes for sale with parking. Maybe they should have done this before they bought their present home. If these permits come back, hope the city charges them well over the old cost and makes it close to $1,000 or more.

There are too many open store fronts in town, caused by too many greedy landlords. The problem isn't new downtown zoning, it’s landlords who are charging too much rent. Nobody wants to buy $9 bowls of soup or $25 tea shirts to pay for high rents. Too bad if you paid too much for your property, don't drive away the stores with high rent, that will only lower property value more. Also, don't ask for new zoning to solve your bad decisions.

Cape May recently approved the addition of 334 parking meters to increase revenue. Now, I understand they’re considering a new proposal to issue resident parking permits to people without off-street parking. Off-road vehicles and all terrain vehicles damage the environment and harm wild birds and animals. They do not belong in our fields and forests. I am in my seventies and very appreciative of all things familiar. In our later years, we have gone through so much change that having some place to go that is safe, cheery, comfortable and run by a great staff is very important. It is time to get out of Wildwood. This town has become a town of Section Eight renters who spoil it for us taxpaying folks who live in our homes. Before you raise rates on the meters, why not meter the beach in front of the municipal tennis courts and ball field? Crazy to raise parking with so much waste in the government. What was the Publisher thinking when he provided a venue for a damaged mind to suggest cutting off the hands of a local mayor? This kind of ranting is not evidence of “a community in conversation with itself” – it is a call to commit a felony. Outside of being part of a police report, it should have no place in your paper.

Last week was Easter, why were the lights in front of St. Ann's blinking? For the first time in a long time, Masses were packed to the brim. Also, they had a Blessing of the Easter food baskets; thank you Fr. Wallace, you did a good job.

Why would Wildwood be against a TV show? Maybe because it might exploit the prostitution and drug activities that run rampant through the town?

Why is nothing in the paper about Middle Township's budget? There are 36 teachers that will be let go. As a parent, I am worried about my child's future. One of my child's teachers is tenured and received a letter stating she might be cut at the end of this year. Upon talking to her I was told that the staff was willing to take a pay freeze, or would pay into their benefits, but they afraid of the board. What is going on here? Can we come to some compromise, so my child doesn't end up in a class of 40 students, and one of her favorite teachers is let go?

Crest taxpayers: my daughter-in-law works at Crest Memorial. Most students there are from renter’s parents. They put the school budget over every time. We property owners are forced to foot the outrageous school-tax bills. How is that fair? Vote April 20.

Educators have been asked to forego raises for one year, and if they do the state will reimburse school boards with SS savings. Given the economy we live in and how most of us in the private world have taken worse reductions than educators are being asked for, why aren't they accepting the offer? Could it be greed? And why are we not seeing administrators accepting 15-25 percent salary reductions; they already are overpaid and rarely work a full week. Time for taxpayers to get angry!

I've been checking the property transfers in the Herald to see how much City Council President Patrick Rosenello paid for the portion of beach front land east of his lot, but I haven't seen anything. Did I miss it, and does anyone know how much he paid the taxpayers for a prime section of undeveloped open space?

The other day, an older police officer told me I had to move my car to the other side of the road or I would get a ticket. I have parked my car in the same spot longer than this man has been a police officer and now I have to move it. He told me that orders were given by the Commissioner that he is to move all the cars. This is embarrassing, Mr. Brannen. The police have more important things to do than worry about my car. You should be ashamed of yourself, making an old woman park on the other side of the street. Stick to selling sugar packets, it’s your strong suit.

Al Brannen needs to lay himself off before he lays any employee off. I'm surprised that he isn't arguing with himself. For the past 20 years he has argued with every administration about everything. It must give himself a sense of worth. Well, Mr. Brannen, you should return to the cheap seats out front. And while you’re at it, take the two other malcontents with you, before you ruin our city.

It's time to stop the nepotism in Lower Township schools. Adminstrators, supervisors, and some teachers retire only to come back in "contracted" or "interim" positions which give them nice yearly salaries to add to their pensions. Will the current superintendent receive a "golden parachute" upon his retirement for his unused sick leave days and other perks? Let's bring new blood into the system, along with fresh innovative ideas for educating the township's kids.

I find it interesting that former Mayor Leusner leaves town, still collects a huge pension and his son is now raking in over $120,000. Talk about the need to reform the pension system.

The kids in this communiy had to travel to the Goshen Rec again this weekend because the MLK center was closed for the weekend. Not only was the center closed but he (the director) will not turn the lights on for the kids to play on the outside courts. What are the hours of the center, and is this his own private rec center?

In order for Council to not raise taxes this year, then needed to cut $1 million from their budget. How much have they cut? Not one cent. No lay-offs; no early retirements; no pay reductions; no furloughs; no trimming of departments, vehicles, or vendors; no consolidation of services, or talk of privatization. Why the heck are we paying Beck if he can’t make anything happen? Recall!

What does the HPC do other than harass the small homeowner? The library, of which I like the new look, has solar panels which can be seen.

What rules does the HPC really follow? Take the library. Solar panels are a big no-no if they can be seen from the street! Personally I like the new look, but what happened to that rule? I guess Tom Carroll wasn't there to say the were a little too big. And the outrageous looking white plastic railings on the promenade. Good grief! Let's oust the whole HPC board and let the citizens moniter themselves. They couldn’t do much worse.

For the clueless Superintendent and Business Administrator of schools: you do control personnel costs at the bargaining table and you do control tuition costs because you also run Wildwood High School, which is the receiving district that charges Wildwood Crest tuition. Start earning your money, because it's a lot.

Why did Mayor Delonzo and committee hire a "bean counter" for business administrator? He has no municipal experience and the understanding of running Middle Township. If the real estate developing duo are solely in charge of replacing the fake lighthouses at the bridge then they'll probably aquire the developing rights and build waterfront condos on the side of the quaint Cape May bridge. They'll spin it and tell everyone that it's Cape May's version of the famous "Ponte Vecchio" covered bridge in Florance, Italy or maybe they'll say London Bridge. Anyway, the clueless citizens of Cape May will buy it hook, line, and sinker.
