Marmora Man Shot, Killed in Atlantic City

ATLANTIC CITY – A Marmora man died after being found shot in Atlantic City – the fourth person killed in the city since New Year’s Day.

The Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office issued a press release Monday, Jan. 8, saying Kevin Gayle Jr., 37, of Marmora, was found shot on Sunday, Jan. 7, at around 10:06 p.m. in the area of the 1100 block of Monroe Avenue. Gayle was unresponsive when located by officers and was transported to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division, where he was pronounced dead. Another man, Lyndon Russell, 24, of Atlantic City, was also located with a gunshot wound. He was transported to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center-City Division, where he was treated and admitted to the hospital.

The cause and manner of death for Gayle is pending an autopsy by the Southern Regional Medical Examiner’s Office. This incident is being investigated by the Atlantic County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and the Atlantic City Police Department Violent Crimes Unit.

On Jan. 1, two men were found bleeding in different locations. Both men succumbed to their injuries. A Cape May County man, Vincent Oglesby, 30, of Woodbine, was charged with one of the alleged murders. On Jan. 5, a 14-year-old boy died after being shot in the head. Another juvenile was injured.
