COURT HOUSE – Middle Township Committee introduced two bond ordinances at its Aug. 7 meeting. The ordinances authorized the issuance of $1,506,664 for general capital improvements and $925,000 for improvements in the sewer utility.

Among the general improvements listed in the ordinance is $1.1 million in buildings and grounds with various projects, including upgrades to the Rio Grande police substation and improvements to the Goshen Sports Complex mainly for irrigation and turf enhancements. General improvements elsewhere include computer hardware and software purchases, recreation equipment, and nonpassenger vehicles for public safety departments.

Sewer utility projects include upgrades to the Whitesboro pump station, the repair and replacement of existing damaged sanitary sewer lines, and the acquisition of a Crane truck.

Authorization for a bond issue does not commit the township to issue the bonds before and unless the funds are needed.

Both bond ordinances will be scheduled for a public hearing at the committee meeting, Sept. 6, when a vote to adopt or not adopt the ordinances will follow the hearing.
