WASHINGTON - When the White House promised that any online petition getting more than 25,000 signatures would get a thorough review and an official response, officials probably weren't thinking about requests for secession.
But on Monday - less than a week after President Barack Obama's re-election - a petition on the White House website calling for Texas to secede from the union has received more than 35,000 signatures, far more than similar requests from other states.
The White House website states that "if a petition gets enough support," which it defines as 25,000 signatures within 30 days, "White House staff will review it, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts, and issue an official response." Shortly after 2:30 p.m. Central time on Monday, the petition passed that threshold.
The petition, created Friday, argues, "The U.S. continues to suffer economic difficulties stemming from the federal government's neglect to reform domestic and foreign spending."

| These secession petitions are not new . After every election they are issued by the lunatic fringe of the losing party . In this case , however , I wish all the low IQ red neck states like Texas would actually secede . |

I read on this message board that a President can pick and choose what Wards he cares to represent. Maybe Obama should do this here. |

What a great opportunity to take your right0-wing ideology and start your own country. Kick out the Mexicans and get rid of all the black--and foreign--players on the Mavericks, Cowboys, Longhorns, etc. Make it as white as Iceland! Have birther parties, lynchings! Make Fox News your state-sponsored TV station. Elect Max as Fuherer, er, I mean President!
And when Mexico attacks you with their So. American allies to take back their land....well, don''t ask us for any ,military help.. ya'll on your own! I hear Mexican prisons are lovely...
Get going and get our of Obama's america! Force women to have rape and incest babies (sure to be a lot..). Make Christianity the national religion!!! Force the kids to pray at school, or whip 'em if they don't--the Bible says! Oh, and we won't buy your oil or trade with you at all, and you can't cross any border withjout a proper passport AND LEGAL BIRTH CERTIFICATE .. And you can't fly in our airspace. I will miss those Cowboy cheerleaders though...

Before you form this New America you should understand and know what a passport is. The US cannot issue a US passport to a citizen of a foreign country who does not have claim to US citizenship, like a child born abroad to a US Citizen. The US can issue a visa to a foreign citizen that gives them permission to travel to the US. |

We will just raise the price of oil and pass the costs on to you. WE be like Saudi Arabia of the US. The state will pay use taxes and charge the rest of the country.
You complain about Rs but when we suggest we separate or at least give the states the power to decide you get all upset. Are you afraid that your systme will fail and the Rs will succeed? |

No. YOu are dependent on oil. If you were not then you would not be buying it from terrorists in the Mid East. Without oil the country would shut down. Have you seen what is happening in New York right now?

Your point about the fence is stupid. It even contradicts YOUR current policy. YOU support illegals sneaking in. How about an independant Texas builds a tunnel from Mexico to the US that bypasses Texas. Will you support that since you support Obamas plan to let in the illegals?
The fact that you now propose a wall pretty much supports the Republicans are right on the immigration issue. You would change your stance after Texas left and you would pretty much adopt the position that Texas was proposing all along. |

What is the point of the chart? Do you now support cutting welfare? Why do Dems who SUPPORT welfare then complain about red states receiveing welfare? If you have a problem with welfare then let's ELIMINATE it. Which Dems are on board with cutting welfare? This is where most Dems hide because they will have to contradict their own views.
The areas in the states that receive welfare are where the blacks live. Blacks live in both red and blue states. The areas that pay for the welfare are where the white capitalists live. They live in both red and blue states.
Why are you afraid of giving the states more power and your state can go on their own? The blacks in the red welfare states will then flock to the blue states. We will see if you really support all the welfare programs when they are in your backyard.
