To The Editor:
This sign was hanging outside the lovely home at the corner of 87th and First Street in Stone Harbor, which is about to be demolished:
“Sad…It is sinful that such a lovely home and monument in the Stone Harbor community is about to be demolished. While it is understood that the new owners have the legal right to make this decision, and we wish them happiness, as taxpaying residents of this community, we do have a voice.
We bought in Stone Harbor years ago for its charm and neighborhood feel. These lovely old homes reflect the nature of the many wonderful residents we know and love. We thought in Stone Harbor, beauty and tradition meant something. That history was more important than money and size.
If this is the direction of this community, this is a sad day for Stone Harbor.”
The note included many signatures.
