COURT HOUSE – Check out these events taking place at the County Library next year!
County Library Hosts Book Club
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “The First Thursday Book Club” in 2012. The club will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. on the first Thursday of every month at the Main Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Join us for a lively discussion of recent literary fiction.
The following is a list of dates and current reading list:
• Jan. 5: Everything is Illuminated by Jonathan Safran Foer
• Feb. 2: Ghost Light by Joseph O’Connor
• March 1: The Bone People by Keri Hulme
• April 5: Fall of the Sparrow by Robert Hellenga

County Library Hosts Lecture on Birding
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend “A Years Worth of Birding” presented by Don Freiday. The program will take place at 7 p.m. on Wed., Jan. 4 at the Main Library located at 30 Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Learn how to plan your natural forays around seasonal change to catch some of the great bird spectacles available in Cape May County. Cape May naturalist and blogger Don Freiday reflects on where he chose to go birding, when and why during 2011. Freiday tells you why he makes a New Year’s resolution to do it even better in 2012.
Don Freiday is a graduate of Rutgers University and is currently the regional coordinator for the New Jersey Breeding Bird Atlas. Freiday is also the co-author of two books: “A Precious Place, a Naturalist Explores New Jersey” and “Wild Journeys: Migration in New Jersey.
County Library Hosts Preschool Dance Party
The Cape May County Library invites children ages 2 to 5 and their caregivers to a “Preschool Dance Party” on Friday, January 6th at 11:30 a.m. The program will take place at the Main library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
Children are invited to show off their amazing dance moves! The librarians will be playing some of the hippest tunes for the kids and teaching some awesome dance moves.
No registration is required for this event.
County Library Hosts Family Movie Night
The Cape May County Library invites children ages 6 to 12 and their families to watch “Kung Fu Panda 2” during Family Movie Night on Fri., Jan. 6 from 6 to 8 p.m. The program will take place at the Main Branch of the library located at 30 W. Mechanic Street, Cape May Court House.
“Kung Fu Panda 2” will be shown on a big screen with surround sound. In the movie, Po is now living his dream as The Dragon Warrior, protecting the Valley of Peace alongside his friends and fellow Kung Fu masters, The Furious Five – Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey. But Po’s new life of awesomeness is threatened by the emergence of a formidable villain who plans to use a secret, unstoppable weapon to conquer China and destroy Kung Fu. Po must look to his past and uncover the secrets of his mysterious origins; only then will he be able to unlock the strength he needs to succeed. “Kung Fu Panda 2” is rated PG.
Snacks will be served; no registration is required.
County Library Hosts Fiction Book Club
The Cape May County Library invites the public to attend the “Current Fiction Book Club” sponsored by the Wildwood Civic Club. The book club, chaired by Barbara Tyburski, will meet the second Monday of each month from January through June. The first meeting will take place on Jan. 9 from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Wildwood Crest Branch Library located at 6301 Ocean Avenue, Wildwood Crest.

County Library Hosts After-School LEGO Club
The Cape May County Library invites children ages 5 to 12 and their caregivers to attend the
After-School LEGO Club on the first and third Wednesdays of January.
LEGO Club will take place at the following dates and times:
January 4 – 3:30 p.m. – Lower Cape Branch, 2600 Bayshore Road, Villas, 886-8999
January 18 – 4 p.m. – Upper Cape Branch, 2050 Route 631, Petersburg, 628-2607
In order to develop a theme for each meeting, we’ll read books to get ideas about what to construct and then bring out the LEGOs and build, build, build!
Parents are encouraged to stay through the meetings and build with their children. Parental volunteers are welcome.
