By Press Release

COURT HOUSE – On Fri., Aug. 19, 2011 at 3:18 a.m., Middle Township Police were dispatched to a motorcycle crash on SH 47 (Wildwood Blvd).
Investigation revealed that the driver, Joseph Battle Jr., 29, of Cape May, and passenger Monica M. Lawler, 24, of Cape May, were traveling North on Route 47 (Wildwood Boulevard) Rio Grande. When Mr. Battle went to pass another vehicle, he lost control of his motorcycle. Middle Township EMS, Wildwood EMS, Medic 9, and Medic 5, all responded to assist with the crash. Both Battle and Lawler were transported to Atlantic Regional Medical Center, City Division to be treated for their injuries, which were not life threatening. Also assisting with the crash were Rio Grande Fire Department and Middle Township Fire Police. Wildwood Blvd was closed for approximately 2 hours, severe thunderstorms made the rescue and investigation difficult.
Battle was charged with driving while intoxicated and failure to maintain a single lane of travel.
This crash is currently being investigated by Ptlm. Dan Geiger.
