COURT HOUSE – At VIM’s 5th Annual Gala – Broadway By The Bay – local podiatrist Dr. Martin J. Carey will be honored as the 2011 Outstanding Volunteer Physician and the Wildwood Women’s Golf Association will be honored as the 2011 Caring Neighbors. The event will be held at The Yacht Club of Stone Harbor on Sept. 23 and begins with cocktails at 6 p.m. with the program honoring this year’s recipients and dinner and dancing to follow. Entertainment will be provided by the “Better Half Duo. Sponsorship packages are available and tickets to the gala are only $100 per person with all proceeds benefitting VIM.
This year’s honoree Dr. Martin Carey has been practicing in Cape May County since 2000 and has been a valued member of the VIM team of specialists since 2002. When VIM calls to refer a patient, his staff says “send them over” without hesitating and without charging a dime. “Dr. Carey treats VIM’s patients in the same gentle, caring and thorough way he treats all his patients. He is most certainly an asset to the clinic and the community,” stated Dr. Elizabeth Crowley, Medical Director at VIM.
VIM’s 2011 Caring Neighbors Honoree – The Wildwood Women’s Golf Association has sponsored the premier all-women’s Spring for VIM Golf Tournament for the past 5 years. To date more than $115,000 has been raised from these tournaments. “Raising funds for VIM at the annual Spring for VIM Golf Tournament has been a fulfilling experience for all involved” said Marie Macatee, co-chair of this year’s tournament.
The primary mission of VIM is to understand and serve the heath and wellness needs of the medically uninsured or underserved population living or working in Cape May County. Since opening in 2002, VIM located on Route 9 North in Cape May Court House has cared for over 4,000 patients with more than 18,000 patient visits.
